What would you do with this site?

Hello friends.
i just picked up this site from Flippa, for $320.
The seller claims, with an apparently genuine Adsense screenshot, that its revenue is $185 per month.
In the 20 hours since the seller switched his code to mine, Adsense has accumulated $2.54 - about half the seller's claim pro rata..
The payment is still in escrow, so I'll wait a few days before I release it, to see if the earnings are not just going thru a blip.
But what does excite me is that Adsense reports more than 6000 page impressions in less than 24 hours.
That seems like a substantial amount of traffic, and yet such little return.
Would I be better off with some banner ads promoting an affiliated merchant?
If so, what kind of product would suit this site's audience, and where should I put the banners? Should I keep the Adsense?
The site is

Visit the adsense section on this forum for better information. Sometime all you need is some little adjustment to your adsense code and you are done.

Andy, Here is a quote - it's the first sentance from the 'blog' section.

Everytime you do a search on search engines, always blog you will find. So what is blogging really all that?
I think if you are going to keep the site you may wish to consider proof reading all the articles.

Yes rlharding, that's a very good point.
I must admit I ignored the alerm bell that rang in my mind when i glanced at a few of the articles before I bid on the site.
I reasoned that it didn't matter very much if the prose was crappy because it would encourage people to lose interest and click on an ad.
Now it appears as though the adsense earnings are nowhere near what the seller claimed.
He hooked the adsense code up to my account for a couple of days, and the 2nd day produced only 1 cent in revenue.
I'm trying to back out of the deal.
Thanks for your comments.

The reason the site doesn't get many adsense clicks relative to the traffic and also the reason why the clicks it does get produce very little money is because the site has no specific theme to the content. It's just a bunch of random information. Those are the worst kind of sites to put adsense on.

One thing that stands out to me that I would consider a big No No is the right hand Adsense block having the header "Recent Posts" directly above it. This is a very good way to get your Adsense account terminated.

Backing out of this deal seems like a smart move. If the site traffic is correct, then perhaps the Adsense revenue he claimed could be close, but I would bet that it is primarily from that right side block which is a violation of the Adsense TOS in the way that it is presented.

If you keep I would recreate the entire site. It looks like a basic WP blog geared for autoblogging in hopes of adsense. Also I get a little lost on whats going on there. It doesn't seem to organized. But with the visitors you are saying you get then there might be some potential.

But I would check where they are coming from. Just make sure that they didnt put this site together quick then purchase thousands of BS traffic to build the traffic and make you think you are getting prime traffic.

Every site has potential its just the way you market it and the passion you set forth.
