Hi, I recently conducted a bit of an experiment to find out the best method to submit your articles. I wanted to find out whether it was best to use a submission service or submission software and I also wanted to find out: (1) is it true that submitting multiple versions (or spins) of the same article means more backlinks? (2) is it true that submitting your article to more directories means more backlinks? Or is less, really more? I meant to publish some results of this on one of my blogs a while ago, but didn't get round to it and thanks to a couple of people who sent me PMs over the last month to remind me! I have documented my results of this experiment here: Plug-in Profit Site Blog: What is the Best Way to Submit your Articles? If you don't have time to read it, then my conclusions from this experiment were that the answer to both questions (1) and (2) above is YES. So in my opinion based on this test I feel that it is worth going for wide distribution and multiple (quality) variations of the same article. Cheers, Suzanne |

I have always believed that publishing to as many sites as possible will have the best impact especially as it takes so much time to write articles. However lately I haven't had the best of results at least what expected form article distribution so I may have to reconsider my opinion. I think sicking to a list of best 50 will probably be better than a 100 or 200 random article sites.

Thanks Suzanne, That is great information to know and I certainly appreciate you doing all the research. I had an idea that there would be somewhat of a difference but I had no idea that leveraging your articles makes that big of a difference. Submitting 8 articles a month through SYA without the leverage option will give you around 56 back links. With leveraging all 8 articles you will get 288. So it really pays to take the extra time and effort to leverage those articles. Thanks again. Matt |

Its not advisable to submit the same article to more than 5 directories. Some directories are not very supportive of that idea..

Most article directories don't have any rules regarding how many other directories you submit to. I have been submitting my articles to lots of directories for years now with a positive results. Finally, if you read my blog post you will see that I ended up with more backlinks when I submitted to more directories. Cheers, Suzanne

Suzanne, What I found to be very effective in terms of article marketing is to write as many articles as a person can. If you use different topics and different keywords in your title then that will bring in endless amounts of visitors to your website. I think that article marketing is all about the NUMBERS. The more you write, the better. I have been using Ezinearticles for the past 2-3 years and this is by far the best of them all in my view. Tal |

Great info, Suzanne! I'm surprised about point one
Do you mean re-writing the article from a different perspective? For instance Article 1 is "Five Tips To Increase Email Marketing" which would offer specific tips to increase effectiveness; while Article 2 is "Making Ever Email Count" which is essentially offering the same information, but in less structured, more conversational format. Or do you mean simply renaming the same article then using different keywords... ? I'm just wondering... Marige

I've read it, great blog post. Another great testing by you, the results may show only slight later. Best version submit to ezinearticles, where all the good stuff is. The second version, submit to multiple directories but different variations. I think this method will work best. JTYS |

I am using ArticleMarketer to submit my articles. They are only distributing to about 40 directories even though they claim to make my articles available to 1000 directories. Is anyone else getting better results from ArticleMarketer than I am? David |

You are right, but it is most directories. I stumbled in the past over a few directories that wanted a complete unique article, and even a 70% and up unique content wasn't enough. lianwei, Concentrate on the directories that do let you submit your articles and don't waste time with those who don't. SubmitYourArticle allows you to create multiple versions of the same article. This takes an extra 20 minutes or so to do and it involves - writing some alternative titles - writing one or more alternative intro paragraphs - writing some alternative sentences - writing some alternative resource boxes Once this is done, SubmitYourArticle randomly interchanges these alternative titles, paragraphs, sentences and resource boxes resulting in many different versions of your article. I had always heard people saying that doing this would result in more indexed pages with your article on it (resulting in more backlinks) and it made sense to me because we know that Google will filter out a lot of duplicate content from its results, but I never knew for sure, so that is why I tested it. Now I am using this method every time and seeing better results. Cheers, Suzanne

Some time the time used to spin the article might be longer than rewriting them, and rewriting the articles sure get more index... I am not sure about the same article that distributed on many website will give the same "link quality" to the linked site, Google may eventually (or already does) lower the quality of the link, just like recently submit to directories seems to have less weight than natural link in the blog post! |

Hi Suzanne, Just a few observations i made. When submitting variations or spins of the same article to mutiple directories, how much variation of the original article must we modify? I have read somewhere that for a spin article to be considered "unique" by google, it has to be at least 30% different right? So if we submit to mutiple directories using only a slightly modifed version of the same article, ( Maybe just changing the opening and ending paragrpahs ) Reckon initially there will be some good backlinks and traffic. But with time, this will definately be gradually picked up by Google as duplicate content and the value of the spin articles will slowwly diminish. What are you views on this? Kindly shed some light on this issue that has been puzzling me. Many thanks in advance. |

Hi Derrick, I am seeing differences of around 40-50% and sometimes up to 70%. It depends how many sentences/titles/resource boxes that I add. I found that there was a surge in indexed pages with my article showing in Google after the first week or so then it settled down. The results in my blog are after one month. Cheers, Suzanne |

The only problems I see with SYA are they way they spin your article to gain a higher percentage of uniqueness and they limit you to 8 articles a month. If you have an established website that already has high ranking keywords 8 articles would be more than enough but new people want to use articles to gain traffic and build backlinks. I have seen people go nuts and write 4-5 articles a day. That may work for backlinks but it's too much work for too little gain. I personally like about 4-6 a week. With SYA when they spin your articles and give you the amount of percentage they are unique I notice the higher number includes your Author resource box and you short article description. That is OK in that they also need to be unique but it leaves big gaps in your article that go completely unchanged. There is another service that suggest you write several paragraphs of 4-5 sentences each and they have you write 3 versions of each paragraph. When they spin your articles you have a much largher percentage of change with each version. They also have you rewrite your Resource box and article description. Their biggest fault is they do not submit to the larger directories, about 4 of them. When I used them in the past I simply copied a unique version of my articles and submitted to those sites manually. It only takes a few minutes to do. This program does require a bit more work but the results were better than I am seeing now. Plus you can submit as many articles as you want each month. I have put off changing because of the cost but this month I will do it. |

I personally use SubmitYourArticle.com. One thing to keep in mind is there are several things that can affect back links including the quality of your article. Not every article will get picked up by every directory. That can depend on what a directory needs at that particular time. Also everything from the title down to your resource box can affect whether your article is picked up and published. I used to use Article Submitter Pro, but ultimately due to time restraints now just use SYA and have been very happy with them. |

This is what I posted. September 20th, 2008 Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy ( insert your landing page url) Every morning as people wake up and make the commute to work, many dream of the day when they will finally work for themselves. Every time the boss lets someone know that they must give up their weekend plans for the good of the company, people contemplate the benefits of being the owner of their own business. Are you one of these people? If you are, it is important to ask yourself some very important questions before you make the uncertain leap into self-employment. Many dream of the benefits of home business ownership, but few take into account the sacrifices that must be made to bring the dream to fruition. Please don`t make this mistake yourself. You must approach home business ownership with your eyes wide open. Ask yourself the important questions, and more importantly, answer your own questions openly and honestly.
