Newbie at Article Writing

Hi Everyone,

Just starting the process of generating backlinks to my website. Choosing to use the method of article writing as from what I've read it seems to be highly effective for generating quality backlinks.
My issue is I haven't attempted to do anything like this before and don't have a strong literacy background. I believe in time I would develop and build the skills to write appealing, quality articles but in the time being is there any software/website I could use to aid me in this. Free or low cost options would be preferred.

Cheers,
Ray.

Software that either writes or spins articles never comes up with anything too great. You will definitely get higher quality articles by writing them yourself even if you don't think you are very good at it.

You can find internet marketing strategies, SEO consulting, and tons of business advice at BAM!

quality software usually doesnt come cheap. the most recommended one that i usually see being discussed here is the Unique Article Wizard that spins articles into different versions so as to provide variety to your post.

Eloquence, is of course, an advantage and key because you don't wanna be throwing a badly written article together, but yes, couple that with a little bit of keyword research I think and incorporate the usage of keywords with your posts.

If you take the "free" avenue, well, I myself can't find any free softwares that are reliable in this regard but usually if you do it "manually" of course it takes a bit more time and effort.

You can search the forums for free softwares but if you can get the UAW i think that would be a good idea. Good luck.

I teach a class online on Thursdays (your Friday in Oz)

I appreciate everyones advice. Even though article writting may seem foreign, I guess I have to start somewhere.

Patricia - if I can make the time today, I'll see you in the VereConference Room.

Hi Ray...

I went thru the same thing. I'm not much of writing either. I sent Ezine my first article, maybe I'll get lucky and get it published. Plr's are only good to get ideas from. Most Plr are written to be re-written from what I've seen. Find something you know a little about, you will be surprised at how long of and article it becomes. Just start writing, it will come to you.

Good luck......

Update....

I've sent 4 articles to Ezine Articles, 3 have been listed and 1 has been published. So it can't be that hard. LOL It does take some time. But just keep at it. I'm going back and check what differences are between the 1 published and the other 3. Then edit them.

A key point to remember is to add backlinks in the post of your article body as well. The anchor text that you write should reflect keywords important to your niche. It is also recommended that you don't always link back to your landing page. Link to other pages on your site.

This sounds easy but it took me 13 articles before I realized how important it is to add backlinks to your content and not just the resource box.

Re: Newbie at Article Writing

Advice received and much appreciated. Started writing, I thought why not try.
Process a little slow when it comes to keyword research and writing about a relevant topic based around your keywords so that your article is SEO. But I guess that will improve with practise.
Another question I have is about article duplication and article submission to directories. Read article duplication is a no go - will only do me more harm than good. Does that mean for each article I write I can only submit it to one directory and only if it's unsuccessful at being published I can then submit it and try and get it published elsewhere? Or can submit it to mutliple directories to improve your odds of getting it published?
So what if it's published on 2 different sites - being the same article is that classed as duplication???

Cheers,
Ray

Re: Newbie at Article Writing

There are big myths with regard to 'duplicate content'.

The only thing is that only the first time it is published it earns a backlink. After that it just doesn't register. You don't get 'in trouble', you just waste your time as far as backlinks which is the main purpose of article marketing.

With that said, you may still want to republish in multiple directories for the exposure as far as human beings seeing your content and recognizing your name as a brand.

As I teach in my web class, you can re-engineer your own articles or any PLR articles so that you can use them again - and they wouldn't be duplicate.

This would mean changing the title, adding sentences, (especially the first few), changing words* - There are gimmicks called 'article spinners' that do this same thing but unfortunately in many cases the results sound like nonsense, so better to do it yourself.

Don't get bogged down - just start writing about your experiences and use your keywords in that content. It should be very natural, as if you are talking to someone - 'stream of consciousness' -

Then you can go back and start organizing to add sentences that include the keywords.

Be sure not to spam your keywords - this point MAY lead to blacklist, or sandbox due to people abusing the system in the past.

Although there is no set rule, most article marketers think that 3 or 4 times maximum to a 450 word document (approximately 1 printed page) is about right - You should always use the keyword in the title of the article.

* changing words - you really have to change several words - an example would be a word like 'cash' - you can substitute words like 'profit', 'money', 'income' where you have used this word.

Many words have several words that mean the same thing -

Try just rewriting a sentence in a different way:

-->> We are earning lots of cash to pay off our debts with PlugInProfitSite.

1. With PlugInProfitSite, we are earning lots of cash to pay off our debts.

2. We are paying off our debts with the cash we are earning from PlugInProfitSite.

NOT duplicate - same day, different content!

Any updates on your other 3 articles. Just finished writing my first, will be submitting very shortly after a couple final touches. Do you have a preference who you submit your articles to. Are some directories easier to get your articles published than others?

I have a total of 7 articles written and submitted. 2 have been published, the rest are actively listed. And I just submitted another article, so far none have been turned down. I have re-written the other 5, just waiting for them to be looked at. I guess they have so many articles submitted that they don't go back for the re-writes until they have time.

Thanks for asking.

Just keep working at it. It will fall in place. Its still a little slow, plus I re-read each on about 6 times before I send it in. Try not to add a lot fluff to the articles, they like them to the point.

Good Luck my friend.

Ray...

I found an Ebook you might want to look at. It's from Ezine Articles. You'll need to sign up for the free membership. log in...go to the Author's Resources...then Ezine training. The Ebook is on this page on the right hand side.

I haven't read it, so I can't tell you how good it is. I just figured since it was shown in their training area, it should be good.

I hope this helps you.

Hi Ray...

Have you submitted your article yet? If so, how did it go?

If you are going to submit the article to many article directories, I would re-write it. Write the same article, just use different words to say the same thing. Change it up as much as possible, but don't make it confusing.

I like Ezine Article directory. It's easy to submit the article, they track the number of hits the article get, and they also show the click thru rate.

I have submitted one article to Go Articles, it's easy to use, but don't have the feature of Ezine.

Update....

I've now submitted 10 articles, all have been accepted and are live. Of the 10...3 have been published (1 has been published twice...so maybe an Ezine pick it up) and the other are live. I haven't head anything on the edited versions yet, hopefully it will be soon. NOT bad for a newbie. LOL I'm also getting a little over 5% click thru rate...more FREE traffic to my website.

I'm now officially a Platinum Expert Author with Ezine Articles. For having 10 accepted articles.

So it can be done. If I can do it, anybody can. So just keep at it.

I wish you well my friend.

Hi Caksut...

Don't give up. I was in your shoe's not long ago. It is starting to get easier now. if you are using PLR articles....re-write the whole article, make it unique. Something you might want to use is Easy Article Rewriter. You can sign up for it at Easy Article Rewriter - Rewrite Existing Articles With Ease. It's FREE.

But, I'd try to write your own article, use the PLR articles as a guide. Just re-write the article in your own words.

After you finish writing the article. Set it aside for a while, then go back later and read the article out loud. Then make the changes that need to be made.

Don't give up on article writing. It will give to free traffic to your website. I'm getting a little over 5% click thru rate to my site.

Good luck to you.

Hi Zackick...

I know how hard it is. I was the same way a couple of weeks ago. I have never written an article before. It is a good way to get free traffic to your website.

What you might want to do for your first article is, write about something you know well. Don't worry about writing it for SEO. Make a list of the things you want to include in your article, or points you want to make. In the first paragraph, highlight what the article is about, then just elaborate on the on the points you want to make.

You will find that you can write a 250+ word article easily.

If you are writing on something you don't know well. Do a lot of research on the topics, you can find plenty of ideas on the Internet. Just write the information in your own words.

I made the mistake of writing my first article on something I knew nothing about. I did the research and wrote it. Guess what it was about....Article Writing for Beginners. It also got published.

After you written a couple of article, then work on writing articles that will be picked up by the search engines (SEO).

Good Luck with your writing.

Hi Everyone,

Ray I'm really glad you posted this as I am really lost when it comes to article writing. I am VERY new to all of this and I see that people often suggest to write what you know but what if you have chosen a niche you are not that familiar with? How do you research and write quality content without plagiarizing someone? Maybe I am overthinking it. It just seems like I do a google search and find a bunch of articles on the topic that are all similiar and I don't want to write more of the same tired stuff. Or I'll see a couple of unique articles and I'm like 'How can I use this information without it being obvious that this is where I got it?'....

Threads asking how to do Article Marketing come up quite often here - so I have a standard reply - I hope this helps:

Two brilliant threads to read about article marketing are these:

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...marketing.html

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...eza-first.html

Read them both - all the way through - and take notes.

For further information I recommend the following directory - It is education in article marketing - a guide book and monthly newsletters - with a directory thrown in! You can read what Warriors think about it here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...alks-walk.html

Promote My Articles Article Marketing Service

I can also recommend the WSO's from this guy:

View Profile: Zeus66

This guy also has some good stuff - some article marketing some on other things

View Profile: Steven Wagenheim

Hope this helps.

Nikia,

Read as much as you can on a topic and then just write about it... start off by writing the body of the article paragraph 2, 3 and 4 then finally add the intro as you now know what you wrote about and then summarize what you wrote.

People worry too much about plagiarism

It is defined as "use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work."

If that was rigorously applied Shakespeare would be the most plagiarized writer in the world. Just don't copy and add your own interpretation and spin to the articles

Hi Nikia,

For me I found the hardest thing to do was to make a start. It actually took me twice as long to submit my first article than it took me to write it. Being my own worst critic.

Now that I'm writing its not as intimidating as I first thought. Articles are gettiing published and the whole writing process is getting easier the more I write.

There is plenty of good advice, resources and people in 'Warrior Forum' that can help, so press in.

I am far from a great writing but my ojective in writing is to build up back links. So as long as they are good enough to get published and the quality of content enticing enough for readers to click thru to my website, I'm happy.

An encouraging newbie to the next,
Ray

Thanks for the encouragement, Ray :-) You're right - I'm my own worst enemy and if I just push myself to take that first step I'm sure it is probably not as hard as I'm making it out to be. Good advice.

Hi Ray...

Glad to hear you are having success. Just keep at it. It still takes me a while to write still. I'm like you....my own worst critic. But...I'm still working on it. Just like you. I am at the point that it doesn't bother me to write now. I it takes a little longer, because there is so much written in my niche, so I get writer's block every now and then.

Hi Breath....

I know what you mean. I have the same problem. What I have done is look at articles in my niche on other article directories and get some ideas. Also look for blog and other forums in your niche. You can probably get some ideas there. Maybe even join some newsletters, I get some ideas there too.

Good luck in your writing.

Hi Chooch,

I had a chance to read a couple of your ezine articles and I've have to say I was quite impressed. They were logical, well structured and offered sound advice. But what impressed me the most was the number of articles you had submitted in the short time you've been an ezine member.

I would think writers block to be the least of your worries.

Ray.

Hi Ray...

Laughs....I used up all my ideas with the first 10 articles. Now I'm having to think about what to write about. A lot of the topics have been covered so many time, it's hard to come up with something new. I've been lucky so far, I haven't had any rejected, and six articles have been published, all the rest are active. So maybe they will be published somewhere also.

Good luck with your writing.

Your Welcome Breath...

I'm having to do the same thing. Just look everywhere you think you can find ideas. I get ideas from everywhere.

Good luck with your writing. It will become easier after you do a couple of articles.

Hi Chooch,

Personally I think if the topic been covered already by someone else but it's something you're passionate about you shouldn't be deterred to write about it.

Sometimes to read something from someone elses perspective or from a different angle can be quite freshing.

I've seen my favourite flick several times and I still enjoyed it.

If you are not confident in your writing you can always outsource it. There are some great writers right here on the Warrior Forum with some Awesome prices.
Another option would be to write the articles and have a writer look over them and make some adjustments for you.

This is actually spot on. There is a saying, 'to be interesting you need to be interested'.

This is so true with writing. As I write articles for an article marketing vendor, I can say that it is much easier for me to get ideas and for my thoughts to flow when I have recently read something that inspired me - or even that gave me something to think about.

Almost daily I have a reason to also remember the term, 'stream of consciousness' (which is what writers like Bob Dylan demonstrate).

- this goes with 'brainstorming' which is just to write down all your ideas and thoughts as they come to your head.

Then later you can go back and organize them, and as you do start writing sentences around them. Before you know it you have paragraphs. Lots of times I will come up with two or more different ideas at the same time for articles by using this method.

Most people make article writing more complicated than it needs to be. If you have an Idea to write about then you have what it takes to write. Yes it can get a little difficult at itmes but if you read something that some one else wrote then you can rewrite it in your own words that is not plagiarism. Your words may sound like there's but they may be in a different light. You can do it, as far as PLR articles they can and do get used to get ideas from and can be modified enough to be unique.
Just remember you put your reputation on the line when you write something and so just be HONEST about what you write and get to the point. Give give give that is how you can get more readers always give the best you know how and people will read it.

Hello,

The simple truth is that as long as you can talk then you can write.

writing is just penning down ideas down.

Here is the secret of writing:

Read and study other writers work and come up with yours.

You can't write simply means you can't read.

Hello zackick,

What is your native language?

If I tried to write "Jack and Jill went up the hill," in ANY language other than English, I probably couldn't get past the first word. :-)

If English is your second language, you can apparently get by for most purposes; though EzineArticles would probably be a problem.

It's rough around the edges but (I) understood everything you meant. If you were passionate about improving your English it would probably be easier; since you don't appear to have that passion.

I suggest studying what others have published at EzineArticles. That might help and guide you, along with a basic English class, or out of class course work.

Best wishes in your goal.

Re: Newbie at Article Writing
Share on:

I can give you a few pointers to start I too hate article writing and when i started i used to spend quite a long time writing 500 word articles and watching them sink in enzine articles.

So i presume you are are writing to get backlinks back to your page mostly. Here is some ideas that can help you do articles in a few seconds which i do daily and found the whole process more enjoyable

  1. The best way i know is not actully write the articles im looking into with my niche and im not talking about hiring someone like a outscourcer or article writer what i am talking about is voice softwere like dragon natual speaking. which is wearing a headset and just speak like if you was speaking to another person about something like a friend ect. Then let the computer do all the work for you,Then its just a case of editing the spelling or grammar in micosoft word or openoffice. The softwere about 90 bucks i think but you can get cupoon codes for it online to bring it about 50 bucks,Not too sure about that one but its the best softwere i use.
  2. Since i am in a Good mood here is another good way for backlinks.Simply find a trend in Google trend for your niche something that people are talking about because people are looking for that infomation from talking on blogs or forums(like when the ipad come availabile in america for example) and power up the softwere then grab a article account(enzine, articlebase,Go articles, constant artcles or whatever that sites called were you can place the articles and get paid for your work, too tired to remember sorry )
  3. when the work has been done also try speaking with the softwere about the same article but make it completly different.then submit that article to places such as prbigews(dot)com and add your backlinks in anchor texts. That way Google will see the news and index it pretty quickly and also blogs that autoblog will also now lets say you had a article with 4 keywords to your site and some good anchor links, That will be everywere by the press submission online on blogs and such with your anchor text stuck in the article. and also Google
  4. If you want to know more on number three look for daniel tan on the warrior forum,He is the one that taught me that trick and it makes me over 1,000 backlinks just from 3 articles to my footballsite.

Hope that helps and all the best
andrew

just to update something here.

I just cant believe in my eye ball that i have been pass the eza article. This is a major step for me, just when thinking back all the hard work i have to learn all the boring stuff. Exactly i just turn it into something fun and most of all 3D. and all suddenly i just able to remember it. Now we are talking about making money in the spider web google. But now i find it very difficult to focus coz i dont have must time to write, so as a result i need to spend 3-4 day to come out a new article. Damm i hate my job
