Word Press Blogs and Commenting

I know some may disagree with me but a WordPress Blog is the way to go if you want to make money from blogging. It also helps those of us who comment on blogs.

This may sound a little stuffy but I don't comment on Blogger blogs very often because there's little benefit for me. You won't understand that if you're new to Internet marketing and blogging in general. I'll explain, when you comment on a wordpress blog your name field is hyper linked to your website address so you gain a precious backlink. Some people, actually a lot of people, use blog commenting as a part of their Internet marketing strategy. It's a part of our online business life.

Because we do it so often and so much it's hard to take the time to write a thoughtful comment that will help the bloggers page rank if we get nothing in return. Also working a full time job and running a business in our spare time can be tough and we have to make every minute count. It's nothing against the blogger or the blog platform it's just a matter of making every minute count.

I've met a lot of Blog commenters in the last few weeks and they all feel as I do. If some one could sell me one more hour a day life would be easier, I think.

I could easily write another thread on the benefits of a Word Press blog and it would be longer than this one. I'll just say that there are many and when it comes to building your business with blogging it is the number one choice.

Good post Steve!

I am only just starting to realize the benefits of a wordpress blog.
As a PPG member, I had mine installed for FREE and Ken Troyer has been kind enough to guide my initial startup with my blog. Its relatively easy for a new blogger to use too.

Its pretty cool realy - I never wanted to blog - but now I am!
I wonder if you can point us to any further help with wordpress???? namely, how you get banners and pictures on there??? I would like to up the anty a little!

Maybe Houdy has some info to share???

Hi Kym, I would follow Houdy's advice and click his links. I did that when I first started and it did wonders for my blog. Now I have a few blogs and Houdy has helped with them. His service is highly recommended for all newbies.

There are several PIPs members who offer a great service for starting a new PIPs site and blog. You can change your site to a WordPress blog site or a Joomla site to make editing and adding content easy. There are PIPs specific mentoring groups, those who will update your website and create great squeeze pages and much more. It's all right here in the PIPs forum.

If a newbie needs more information on the many services available from PIPs members just drop me a PM and I'll send you a list. It has all helped me so I'm sure it will help you.

There is great value to owning a WP blog, as well as commenting on one. As for me, I prefer to comment on WP blogs as well. But hey, a backlink is a backlink regardless, so Blogger blogs do help too. Just not as SEO friendly if you will.

I would love to have a WP blog, but changing over seems like it would be a pain. I don't want two blogs either. Any ideas?

Commenting is getting a huge upgrade in WordPress 2.7. Automattic, the company that employs most of the top people working on WordPress's code, recently acquired a company that specialized in threaded discussion tools. WP 2.7 will totally revamp the comment system, adding threaded comments. Much like a forum, you can reply to specific comments, which are displayed with proper indentation so readers can follow individual conversations in the comments, rather than a plain list. It's gonna help increase commenting across the 2.6 million active WordPress blogs, I think.

I definitely agree with you on this subject! I didn't even know how this worked at first (I am very new).

One day I was looking at where my traffic was coming from and I noticed that I was getting quite a bit of traffic from the posts I made on other people's blogs.

I went back to see how that worked and sure enough, my name was hyperlinked to my website!

Awesome stuff I think and I too like the fact that we can post on each others blogs and get some traffic and a backlink too.

First off, you will not get a blog installed anywhere that is as SEO optimized and net ready as those Jeff (houdy) installs. It is his passion.

Keith (I hope that's right)The power of blogging and blog commenting is great stuff.
It will get both traffic and backlinks. When you are filling out a WordPress comment form it is OK to use one of your
keywords I listed below in the name field. Just make sure you sign the comment with your real name.
That gives your a backlink with your keyword.

That's a lot of keywords.

I have seen commenting increased on all my WordPress blogs in the past few weeks. If you see my WordPress Guides comment section (on a single post) I even encourage people to use their anchor text for their name. I also give them sample HTML code to copy and paste to use inside the comment area for another backlink. I almost always check out their blog or the link they leave.

I understand what you're saying for sure. I started with a third party hosted blog several years ago UNTIL I learned about the value of a self hosted blog and the Wordpress format. About a year ago I started using a blogging system that uses the Wordpress format, and also includes a lot of back end technology that submits to social networks and bookmark sites, etc., automatically. I can often get a new message posted on the front page of Google in just hours.

Here's a serious question. I really want to get a WP blog. Would it matter if I would just stop posting to my Blogger blog, host a WP blog and start posting to that one? I would still link to my Blogger blog and keep all the old posts, but anything new would be on my WP blog.

Any suggestions or thoughts?
