Hi to all, I am making my first steps in I.M. and I am learning about keyword research. I understand that the "magic secret" of finding the right profitable niche is well kept for those who are aware of it and may not like to share it in a forum... But I just want some simple questions: Let's say you come with a niche like mine.. "2012 apocalypse theory" 1. I Google it as 2012 apocalypse theory and I find that Results 1 - 10 of about 376,000 for 2012 apocalypse theory. 2. I Google it as "2012 apocalypse theory" and I find that Results 1 - 10 of about 114,000 for "2012 apocalypse theory" 3. I use the Google Adwords keyword tool and I find that:
What is a good amount in all of the three aspects ? Is it good to use a keyword that google as -keyword- has 90,000 results and the same keyword googled as "keyword" (exact match) that turns no results at all? How are these numbers translated ? Thanks and Regards, Chris |

Another key metric is how many people are competing for that word or phrase. It is not enough to simply find something that is frequently searched.

You find the competitors by googling "my keyword" inside quotes.. but what If there is no competitors and when you google the keyword without words you get ~100,000 results ?

keywords with 0-10000 search engine results and 1000 or more monthly searches are great. Low competition and lots of people searching.

It's not about the NUMBER OF COMPETITORS. People put so much emphasis on this. Really but looking for keywords with a low amount of competitors, it's just signifying that there may not be much comp for the #1 spot in the SERPS. However, even if there's only 10,000 results in quote, "2012 apocalypse theory" There still may be pretty tough competition on page one. So what you SHOULD do, is don't type your keyword phrase in "" within the search. Search for it broad and check the actual websites on the first page. Check their backlinks, their on page SEO, and their page rank I find the following criteria to be suitable for me to try and rank a website. Competitors on page one have page ranks 1-4 Competitors on page one have less than 100 backlinks to the particular ranking page. BLP Competitors on page one are ranking for deep pages within the website, and not the home page. competitors on page one are missing the keyword phrase in ALL title, description, and keyword tags. Check this by viewing the page source. Some competitors on page one are articles, or web 2.0 sites. |
