Following Your Followers On Social Media

Hi,

I often read the advise to follow one's followers on social media.

Is this of strategic importance or for sentimental reasons of reciprocating?

Is it actually important/necessary that one must reciprocate?

A lot of users only follow you to get followed back, so if you don't re-follow, they might un-follow you. (Wow that's a lot of follow in one sentence)

And it will help you grow your count. If that is your goal.
