Hi Pipsters, As fast as I create back links to my site they disappear! I had got up to over 700 at one stage and it has slipped back to 557. I am working long hours in my job and I have limited time so what sort of backlinks "stick" the longest? Article submitting, Blog commenting, forum posting, directory submitting or are there better links I should be using? I do know about needing to choose links that allow "do follow" attribute. Thanks, Dave |

Hi Dave, Your backlinks will fluctuate all the time. For example...lets say you write an article..someone posts it in their blog.... 1) You gain a backlink 2) 2 weeks later they close that blog because they switched topics or didnt like the look of the blog....you lose a backlink... The key is do something everyday to gain backlinks and thats all of the things you mentioned....be consistent in your actions... Dont let the number drive you to drink..... Take care Jeff Casmer |

Also, Google gives and takes back links on a regular basis. One day you could have a bunch when you check and the next day half of them will be gone. Google's algorithm changes and your links change with it. Plus, if you do not do anything with backlinks for a couple weeks they will start to fall off at a rapid pace. I usually only see a drop when I search my site on Google. Using other online tools my backlink count is continually growing like it should. Google does things their own way and no one knows what their way is for sure. I doubt even they know. Steve |

Hi Dave, I'm seeing that too so you're not alone and it's pretty normal at least for Yahoo backlinks I'm seeing that too. But I don't really let that bother me or stop me from getting more backlinks. You may want to look at my post when I recently experimented on blog comment strategy How Blog Commenting Got Me 1200 Backlinks in 5 Days It may help you or at least encourage you to keep on blog commenting. As I always say, focus on taking the actions that will produce the results, and not on the results. That way you don't get discouraged and confused. Just keep pushing and moving in the right direction. |

Hi Dave, Some good advice there from other Pipsters and as Patricia has said, don't get hung up on the results, just keep doing what you are doing and the results take care of themselves. I also agree with other comments about Google results for example which always seem poor compared with others but they seem to do their own thing and I don't take much notice. to your success, Mal. |

Dave, A few weeks ago my backlinks dropped by over 300 when I checked, and I got very worried. Then this week they are higher than ever. I don't think it matters as long as you are continually adding more by consistent effort. Alan |
