The Thank You Button
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Although lots of times the Thank You button is not visible, it is usually over on the far, bottom right of each post.

I do not notice many in the PIPS forum using it to thank people who have posted a helpful answer to their questions or when you are in agreement with them for something they have said.

Don't over-use it because then it is meaningless, but I hope some of you will use it when someone has gone out of their way to give you particularly detailed help.

Not sure what it gets people to have Thank You points, but it is a nice gesture.

I guess if you ever run for office someone can say you have X number of Thank You points in the Warrior Forum. LOL

As well, you may notice the little icons on the far left, bottom of each post.

The Triangle Button is to Report spam posts - those posts that are blatant advertising with affiliate links. So anyone can report spam.

Although I try to be on top of things here, I can't sit glued to the PIPS forum all day and night and particularly Sunday I try to rest. You can get rid of the spam yourself quicker with the triangle Report button.

The other icon that looks like a computer monitor, (a box) is the Infractions Button. This might be something like more than one spam post at a time, (serial spamming), a rude or insulting remark, a signature violation, or blatant self-promotion or advertising through a post or a PM (private message).

Most infractions expire after a one hour warning, but more serious ones will add up and in the case of a real troll (hostile, disruptive) and/or a serial spammer (multiple spam messages), can help document that they need to be banned from the forum after so many infractions.

In most cases for PIPS members I would counsel them privately (through PM) if they were breaking some rule, and I hope we can all do this as a rule (you can just tell me about it and I will contact them if you feel more comfortable); however, these other reporting tools would be used if I am not around on Sundays, or some other time where I may be sleeping, which I try to do every night. LOL

Since you do have a moderator and we are a close-knit group, there won't be much use for the tools here in the PIPS forum.

It is mainly in the other forums where they are self-moderated that anyone can make a report and try to keep the Warrior Forum free from spam advertisements and ensure a friendly, safe environment for everyone.

Take care.

Pat
