I have observed a wide variance between the number of searches for a keyword phrase in Google keyword tool and Wordtracker keyword tool often times. The variance is often so wide that while one is showing low search volume for one search term, the other is showing high search volume for the same keyword. I am quite aware Wordtracker figures are for daily searches while that for Google is for monthly searches, so I am referring to a conversion to the same basis. My question is, which of the two keyword tools is more reliable? |

They are both good tools - but I go with google now that they actually give the search numbers. They are the SE with the biggest reach in the market, so I figure they should know! also google tools are free where as wordtracker is not and after all its google that we all want to be buddies with! I haven't yet figured out how Google comes up with their numbers. Google can show 19000 searches a month while Wordtracker shows 60 a day. Wordtracker has always been fairly reliable while Googles stats are very new. If a person has not used Wordtracker they wouldn't know it's value. I find the stats they give are more useful in day to day information. Knowing the exact number of competitors is a big plus also. I wrote an article a couple weeks ago using keywords with low competition and high search volume according to Google and rewrote the same article using a keyword variance I got from Wordtracker. The Google article never got close to front page because the competition was much steeper than Google indicated. The article written with Wordtracker found keywords stayed front page for nearly a week but had a lower search volume. While I still have no idea who's stats are the most correct I know Wordtracker is more reliable in other areas. |

Both are good keyword research tools. Wordtracker provides a daily search volume for the keyword and Google keyword tool provides in a monthly style. Of course Wordtracker provides more functions that the google keyword tool as it is paid software. |
