To be honest, most of the time when a new person is claiming they have a bunch of "hits" it is because they are seeing them in their Host4Profit stats. The fact is those stats do not mean a thing because "hits" are not unique visitors. Some also look at "Visits" and that can also be deceiving because they are counting all of your own visits. basically H4P stats are very misleading and should not be used.

To be honest again, I looked up "profit-earners.com" and only found 256 backlinks. That really isn't very many. To get unique visitors for your keywords you will need a lot more. I checked out your keywords and you have some of the hardest ones to get ranked for. I would use Googles KeyWord Tool and find long tail versions of your current words. For example, "Profitable Home Business" could be changed to "Most profitable Home business" that has a fair amount of search and no competition to speak of.

Google also suggest other words for Profitable home business", one of them is "business how to start". You would need to find a way to make it fit exactly as it is. This long tail word has little competition but 246,000 searches a month. But, you don't really want to focus on keywords with massive searches. You want to find those with almost no competition and 400-1000 (1000 may be too high) searches average a month.

If you can dominate 4-5 keywords with 400 searches a month you will have a big increase in traffic to your site. If you are blogging use these keywords in your blog andnuse them in your articles and Author resource box. It is extremely difficult to get on top with home business type keywords but the others surrounding it are not hard at all. Plus, as you gain rank for the less competitive keywords you will see your site being ranked for words you never thought of without any extra work.

Hmmm, I came back to help a little more, I'm tired but restless.

Here is a problem I should have commented on. All of your keywords include "home business" in one way or another. That is what is called going "deep" but you haven't gone real deep, as in scraping the bottom. Going deep would be digging up all the longtail keyword variations of "home business " you can. That is Ok but not the best idea.

Instead you want to go "wide". One of the suggested keywords in the above example "Profitable home business" is "how to start internet business", not bad in itself. Use that suggested keyword to look up more keywords and repeat until you have a good but not too large keyword base of both deep and wide keywords and build on those using the suggestions above.

With a little effort and research you can find very profitable keywords to start building your business on. Often these keywords are overlooked by the so called experts who are busily targeting the hardest words to rank for. That gives you an open door to get more traffic than you can believe.

Hope you don't mind the added thoughts
Steve

Hi Tom,

Stephen has given you excellent advice. Make good use of it.

Let me expand on articles. Writing articles is one of the best ways I have seen to get top search engine rankings. That would be where I would start. Learn as much as you can and then apply it. Keyword optimization comes first, though, so take Stephen's advice and find keywords with little or no competition.

I have a page that lists the top article directories I submit to, and I update it frequently when I find new ones. Over 25 so far... http://www.replaceyoursalary.com/article-marketing.html. Also, if you click on my YouTube link I have a video about article marketing that shows the results I'm getting. It's free and easy to do.

Alan
