Article Directory... Is it worth it?
Share on:

Hi everyone,

I have had an article directory for a couple of years now. I have realized that I cannot commit to the time necessary to accept and reject the high amount of articles that I receive daily. I have also noticed that I'm running out of hard drive space on the server. I think that is due to the thousands of articles sitting in the queue.

My question is would it be worth keeping the directory? Here's what I had in mind. I don't want to delete the directory, per se. I will keep all the articles that are currently on it. I will however disable the signup page and maybe prevent existing users from adding new articles.

There is still much value to the directory, but I just can't keep up with the commitment. I wouldn't mind hearing other's opinions on this.

Thanks,

Alan

Hi, Alan:

I never set up a directory because I was concerned from the start about the time commitment.

I still believe in the value of an article directory, though, and I think your suggested solution is a good one: just disable the submission page unless or until you get caught up with it.

My only recommendation is to include a message (if that option is open to you) advising visitors of what you are doing.

Yes, I would make the users and any visitors to my site aware that submitting or adding articles is disabled. There is no doubt a benefit, but I just can't commit right now.
