Has anyone else received an offer like this before? I received an email that states something like this... "Hello, I'm the webmaster of somewebsite.com I wanted to know if by any chance you would be interested in doing an unbiased review of our site somewebsite.com on your blog Alan's Home Money Making Blog If you agree we will send you a payment for the review. Please let me know if you are interested. If you are interested please click here to receive your money: Link to receive money If you want to receive more paid review proposals, just click the following link: Subscribe Link If you don't want to ever receive mails from us, just click the following link: Unsubscribe Link If you have any questions just send a reply to this email. Thank you" It looks legit and everything. Clicking on the link to receive money brings up a page that let's you enter how much you want to get paid. If the price is too high they will reject your offer. You must place three text links into your review, and it must be at least 300 words long. Anyone get offers like this? I'd be interested to know how much I could offer and get paid for a simple review. The site I have to review is about moving. I suppose if I subscribe I could get more offers like this as well. Some feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Alan |

Someone's gotta have an opinion about this. Would you write a review for cash? How much would you charge? I'm still up in the air. Give me your opinions, and I'll read them when I get back. Thanks! Alan |

Hi Alan - I have had a similar offer too. My personal opinion on this is dont do it! When you are getting paid to do something you are expected to do it well! That would mean to give a favourable review. If you are perceived as someone who will write good stuff for money - that, to me, means that your opinion can be bought and therfor not worth the paper (or screen) it is written on! Keep your credibility intact! Surely they are not gonna pay you enough to compromise yourself? If you love something so much that you WANT to write a review, then money shouldnt come into it! Anyway - thats just my personal opinion - good luck with whatever you decide! take care - Kym |

Get the money first and then write the review. If they pay you they are legit. |

I feel that it more like a scam. Once i see this type of message I will just delete it because I tried to look what inside the website and they require many procedures and those procedures are more like cheating to get my information.

I agree with aloke. I usually delete those emails and report them as spam. I don't believe on those sites and never clicked on them...

I don't believe it's spam, nor is it not legit. I like Kym's advice, though, and think I will pass on the offer. It seems they will pay upfront, assuming they agree with your specified amount. All the information you need is readily available as well. All the terms and conditions can be seen. This is why I don't think it's a scam. In fact, if you want me to post the link here to their offer I will. Just let me know, and I'll have to try and find it. |

I have been offered money in the past in exchange for writing a FAVORABLE review of a product. Once I found out they were not interested in seeing an honest evaluation, I just figured it fell under the category of scams!

The sites I've seen want HONEST reviews only. Here are a couple of legit review sites... SponsoredReviews.com ReviewMe.com I have yet to write a review for cash, but I probably would if given the chance. |

Hi Alan, Reading this thread again, it still looks like another way to get your paypal address or something like that. There are other way to contact someone, and this is not it. I only go back to those who looks legit, ask reasonable service, and contact me through my contact form, on my website. Tanny |

I'm not sure what you mean. The sites I listed have a registration for both reviewers and people wanting to be reviewed, or that have products. You list your blog so that people looking to have a review written can see who you are and what you write about. They then ask people, through the site, if they would want to write a review. You can also search for subjects that you want to write a review about. Now, my initial post stated that someone had emailed me about doing a review. I wouldn't trust them either. Getting your PayPal email address, though, isn't harmful in most cases. I don't know what they would do with it other than try to guess my password or something. Or, they could send me money. Either way I wouldn't be worried . But, I'd rather go through a site like the ones I listed above. | |

Hi Alan, I never saw this topic before so apologies for the late response, but I recently came across an article on setting up a review site. Within that article (sorry I can't find it now) it was recommended to participate in some paid reviews as well as doing normal reviews of products etc. It was also recommended that you only do a small percentage of paid reviews to keep your credibility. So on that note, it seems like a good idea. Graham |

Hi Graham, I know a blogger who uses SponsoredReviews.com to make extra money from his blog. I found the other site after doing some research. If you're doing a lot of reviews, having purely just a review site would probably be best. But if you do one here and there, your own blog would work. |

If someone was offering to pay me for a genuine unbiased review of their site, I would do it provided it was legit. However, I agree with some of the other posters here. I question the validity. I don't think you'd just get a random email asking you to review their site. Now, if you had joined a site that pays you to review member sites on your blog then I'd understand, but I don't think some random person would email you unless you already had a blog on which you reviewed sites and had your contact info there or something.

I wouldn't ever recommend replying to such an email or providing any "personal" information. I never replied to the one I received. However, I do provide contact information on my site and blog. I want people to be able to get a hold of me. Of course, this also brings on the problem of spam. If you're looking to provide unbiased and honest reviews, I would suggest signing up with those sites. |
