Key Word Advice
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi Everybody!

I'm fairly new to all the IM stuff. But I do know that key words are very important. My question is this. For this particular website that we have set up for us through Pips, what is a good amount of keywords to use? I was thinking maybe for or five, or should it be more or less?

Thanks
Ray

I would focus one one "long tail keyword" to begin with. While writing article around the one LTK also sprinkle in the other keywords a couple of times in each article. Once you have enough content up and your focus LTK is ranking well in Google or Bing or even Yahoo start building rank for your next LTK using the same method.

This way you are able to get one LTK to the top while building a foundation for the others. It can be very difficult to try to build more than one word at a time. It is much easier to build one while using the others as well.

I would use 5 keywords to start with. Each long tail keyword would be 3-4 words long.

This tool is free and can help greatly in building a keyword list, http://lsikeywords.com/

I would focus on one long keyword like:

The best ranked home business

You can choose a combination of 5-7 words and stick with it for your site.

I have done a lot of keyword research in the past few weeks, including the home business/make money area and you will need to do some refined research to find the right keywords in this industry.

You need keywords that are being searched for and do not have much competition. The phrase "The best ranked home business" may not have a lot of competition, but it does not have searches. There are phrases within this market that will give you thousands of searches per day, but you need to do your own research. Check this article Market Research for a guide to finding your own keywords.

I find a phrase that I wish to target, then use all the break downs of that phrase. Like "home based business ideas", "home based business", "home business", "business ideas" and business. Some of these would be too hard to target on their own, but they add to the main keyword. Use some of the breakdowns in the context of your content, but use the main keyword in your headings and description for your site.

While on the subject of keywords and optimising your site, there are a couple of plugins you should have on your site to make the most of your target keywords. Click on plugins in your WP-Admin, click on plugins and if you do not have "all in one SEO pack", click on add plugin and type it in. Activate the plugin once you select it.

When you set it up, You will add your main keyword in the heading for your site and in the description of your website, along with a few of the breakdown words. Make it readable for people and enter all the keywords that you used in the keyword section.

I hope this has helped

I would like to help you saying that. First, Choose no more than five. Second, Use phrases instead of words. Third, among those phrases, choose the one that in your research have a lot of monthly global usage, but the percentage of competition is low.
If you do this, you go easily to the top of the page.
I hope being of great help to you. Thanks for the opportunity.

Just make sure to do your research on some good targeted LTK that have 100,000 or less competitors. You can do this using google's keyword tool to find them and putting " at the beginning and end of the keyword to see how many people are using that exact phrase as a keyword.

hello ray, im fairly new myself. but what i have learn't is using LSI (Latent Semantic Index) keywords throughout your blogs is very good for 2 reasons. firstly it helps you rank in google for keywords that normally are not using for your website.secondly it can pick up business for an unexpected source...

for example: I actually rank 15 in google for a LTK " a to z of marketing" . each blog post i try (but not always successful) to put my main keyword and up to 20 LSI keywords

Hi All,

I am also new to IM, I have just recently signed up with PIPS. It seams like keywords and article writing is very important. I just wonder, if I want to use 5 keywords how do I add them and where so they are all recognized in the SE's? I am a bit confused with those keywords. Could anyone please help me with this. Thank you.

talking theoretically: you can have anywhere between 10-15 keywords in your page ...
using 30-40 keywords is better know as keyword drowning and will cause you much harm then good...

talking practically: it would be better to start off with 3-5 keywords at the max and increase the number in accordance with your sites content.

As a new PIPs member there are a few things you can and should do with keywords. The first would be to write new articles using your main keyword in the title and using your keywords as the subject of the articles. But, it looks like you have done that with the top article on your site. So, you have the right idea already. Just do the same with all the articles you write. Then replace the pre-installed articles on your front page with the ones you write and add some new keyword rich articles as well.

Personally, I would replace all the front page text with keyword rich text so your site is completely unique. You can say the same thing using different words.

A basic use of keywords in articles would be to put them in the Title, first and last paragraph and sprinkled within the text. If you are using 5 keywords then you should write five articles, one for each keyword in the format above. Then lightly use the other keywords in the article body.

That's a good point. It is very important to understand that over using keywords will get your site marked as keyword spamming and that would be worse than to few keywords.

Thank you All for your help with the Keywords. I understand that I have one Keyword setup in wordpress which is, in my case "Internet Income" and should use 4-5 other LTK's in my blog of my website, right? Could I add more keywords in wordpress?
I do have another questions you guys might help me with. How do I add new plug ins and links, and how can I make changes to my website and block. Could someone please give me some advice. That be great.

Martin - you would do all in Wordpress. (yes you can add more keywords by using the tags field in Settings General - as well as using them in your articles - title and text.

Plug-Ins - just click Plug-Ins and follow the directions.

To make changes/add links to your website you would use the Appearance Editor - and edit the header.php and footer.php files on the right sidebar.

I don't know what you mean by block?

Oh Blog? It is all the same - your blog is embedded on the home page of your website.

One thing you might want to do is to use the category we set up for you called 'Articles' rather than to have your posts 'Uncategorized'

Just edit your post and on the right you will see two check boxes - one says Articles and the other says Uncategorized - Remove one and add the other.

You can also add more categories if you want to get real detailed - like 'home business', 'affiliate programs' or whatever. (see Categories under Posts on the left sidebar)

Thank You Patricia for your advice. I do have another question you might help me with. I have advertised my website at the rear window of my car. The ad says: Earn $Money$ from Home. FREE OWN Website Setup. FREE Online Training. Internet Income at MartinsTrueNetIncomeBz.com. My site can't be found when I google it nor when I google my keyword. Why is that? How can anyone sign up if my site can't be found. I don't understand. Could you please explain. Thank you in advance.

Martin - Your site is new- less than 30 days - the search engines work at their own pace to crawl and index a site.

What you need to focus on is completing the training and building backlinks from your blog and articles, etc.

That is how you will eventually show up in the search engines.

Figure you are competing with millions of other websites on the Internet and the ones that show up are the ones who have done the work to build back links.

It is a process that you will develop giving it consistent effort over time. Don't focus on results - focus on taking the action that will produce results eventually.

Sure Gomer - or just to submit the link of the blog POST - straight to Google.

Add your URL to Google

Note this is not the blog address itself - it is the exact link for the blog POST.

For example: Blog: http://www.the3rdpartynetx.com

Blog POST: http://www.the3rdpartynetx.com/i-am-baaaaack/

(click the title for Wordpress or time for blogspot to get the exact link - look at the browser address bar at that point and copy and paste the URL).

However with that said figure 20,000,000 gigabillion sites are being submitted and/or pinged on any given day -

They are not impressed with one time only stuff - but it can't hurt - as long as you don't spam them by doing the same exact link more than once a month...
