Hi Peter, I stumbled your post. Thanks for doing mine.

Graeme, I've tried to stumble yours but failed with "url not found" or "we don't have record of your posts" and I don't know why??

I've been meaning to ask you. Same as you, I do see such traffic but usually nothing comes out of it. ZIP! none. Is there some truth in people saying that SU traffic is non-targeted. I even read someone who had 2000+ views on a post but no sales generated, perhaps just window shoppers. Just some food for thought.

Alan, you got any views on this?
No idea, Peter. I do get traffic, but no sales or anything. Perhaps it's true.

I had around 50 hits the day after this thread was started but have since had almost no traffic at all from stumble upon. I don't think it has helped much with SEO either.

StumbleUpon is a "nofollow" site, so forget SEO, unfortunately.

I get a steady amount of traffic, but that's about it. Perhaps other sites might be better?

Digg, Mixx and others?

Hi Graeme,

I've Stumbled both. There's a cool little tool described in this thread, either on page one or two that will tell you if a page is Stumbled. You just add it to your bookmark toolbar and click on it when you come to a page you want to check.

Using SocialMarker i mentioned above i've added the latest post at that blog and also Peter's latest to the following dofollow sites:
Connectedy
Jumptags
OYAX
Bookmark Tracker
Furl
Spurl
Bibsonomy
Linkagogo
A1 Webmarks
A couple of the dofollow sites crash my browser so i don't use them and i also added it to reddit and stumble

Hi kazakhan, using sites like socialmarker.com have far more advantages than using SU. I didn't join this group until recently because SU is actually pointless for growing a business. But, it's good if all you want is traffic numbers with no sales goals.

The reason I say useless is because it isn't targeted traffic, actually it isn't anything except stumbling traffic. When we review sites and then vote on them they get pushed to the top so when someone clicks the stumble button in the Strumbleupon Toolbar your site can show up more often if your category is one they have chosen to view. It's not people looking for your opportunity, it's just people stumbling their way through the Internet. I stumble my way along from time to time when I'm bored.

I should add, you don't need SU reviews to bring your site to the top. The thumbs Up/Down icons are like a voting system. The more thumbs up the more positive votes and the more you'll get seen, that day anyway.

But, dofollow social sites give a backlink and are searched using keywords. More targeted and more beneficial. Those are the places you should spend your time promoting your business and helping others promote theirs.

kazakhan, you are doing the right stuff. Stumble and bookmark a variety of sites and then bookmark your own. Contrary to what has been said SU and the other sites do not mind you bookmarking your own websites just so long as you are not spamming them. You avoid spam by bookmarking many different sites. Plus, if you are bookmarking sites that you actually do like then you are adding value to the social site. When you add value you can become popular and the more friends you have the further your business will grow.

Just don't try to sell to the friends you make. Just let them know what you do in a casual manner. If they have friends looking for a business opportunity like yours they will sell it for you. That's why it's called Social networking, friends helping friends helping friends.

Steve

Well said, Steve. I was hoping to transition this into DoFollow sites, which is why I had mentioned socialposter, somewhere in this thread lol. It seems it's going that way which will be much more beneficial to everyone.

I've actually been away from this for a while, but hoping to get involved again. Time has not been on my side lately.

I will be using socialposter from now on if I bookmark anyone's page.

Hi Everyone,

I think I am just about up to date with this including a stumble for Graeme Sutherland who I have just visited. If I have not sent at least one review to everyone in this thread, please let me know and I will get on it.

My stumble ID is Sulinks, the only problem seems to be that I have had a lot of visits to my two requested sites and associated green thumbs up but only two reviews so I don't know what's happening there,

regards,

Mal.

Yea, they both work fine. Just remember to only post to DoFollow sites especially if time is limited. The others can bring some traffic but DoFollow also gives a backlink.
