What do you subscribe to....?
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

My first post!

It's Christmas soon which means I get to take a break from running my daytime business and think once again about how to go about the internet-based venture I have in mind.

What I'd like to do is subscribe to a resource that's genuinly going to assist me from the start but which one?

So my Question to everybody out there is 'what resources have you genuinly found to be useful that hasn't entailed shelling out several thousands of pounds/dollars? What resources do you maintain a subscription to because they are worth it and even better what resources did you start with as a beginner which you still maintain today.

EVEN BETTER - I'd love to hear from somebody who raves about a site they subscribe to who doesn't then offer it though their own site. Ie someone without a vested interest in promoting it (like 99% of the 'independent' reviews on the net.)

Finally (and here's a cynical question if ever you've heard one!) why does EVERY offer for a subscription end in a 7? $147, $77, $37.......it's all sevens! Is there something about the number 7 that makes a reader more likely to click that 'buy' button?

Have a great Christmas one and all!

Hi There,

I can't really offer any help for your main questions as I don't really subscribe to much other than other internet marketers' newsletters.

But, your question about the number 7 I do have an answer. You answered it already. There certainly IS something about the number 7 that makes people more willing to buy. I'm not quite sure why that is, though.

Maybe someone else here has some insight on this.

Alan

Walmart ends most of their prices in 7. That could be an indication.

I do subscribe to one thing because it works. I follow the information, follow the suggested plan and it works. I do have a vested interest in it at the rate of $97.00 a month. But since I bought it from myself I get $44.00 a month back.

Other than that one thing I subscribe to many programs if they help me reach my goals. Most of these serve a purpose and I quit paying once the purpose is met. That could be several months, one month, or a one time purchase program (my favorite). For example, I wanted to learn Adwords so I subscribed to an Adwords program. I also wanted to learn Yahoo PPC, CPA, CPM, blogging for money, list building and more. So over time I have subscribed to programs that met each goal individually. Now I am concentrating on video. I don't have to subscribe to anything because it is covered in that one thing I mentioned above.

I suggest you form a plan and set goals. Then look for those things that will help you reach each goal. Some programs will try and help you do it all. From my experience they are lacking depth. Find one's that will help you master each goal individually and you will be further ahead. Get good at one thing then move on to the next.

Hello, Gardenmaker:

Are you a Plug-In Profit Site (PIPS) member? If you are, I have two things to recommend.

First, the PIPS Power Group. This group and the six PIPS mentors who lead it have coached me, trained me and kept me interested in and committed to the PIPS program.

Check it out. Although, I will tell you that I do have somewhat of a vested interested in it - if you join through my link, I earn a commission. But in all fairness, I was promoting the PPG even before the affiliate program was introduced.

Second, the SFI Marketing Group (one of the core PIPS affiliate programs) has been my most consistent money-maker so far. Not a fortune, but consistent and growing. If you are a member of SFI, your SFI Affiliate Center is an incredible source of marketing information, insight, training and resources.

Regarding pricing that ends in 7s, the retail industry established many, many years ago that consumers respond well to pricing that is below the zero mark: for example, 19.99, 19.97, 19.95 instead of 20.00 or 20.97, etc.

Odd numbers seem to have greater appeal than even numbers. I suspect the 7s became popular because they look even better (lower) than 9s. And, of course, there is a mystical relationship with 7s that some people respond to.

As far as resources go - there are tons of them. WarriorForum in it's own right is a resource that you can get 99% of all you questions answered.

Some IM's newsletters that I subscribe to are Frank Kern, Mike Filsaime, StomperNet, Brad Fallon, Rich Schefren, Andy Jenkins, Craig Bekta, Dan Theis, Yanik Silver, Eben Pagen, John Carlton, Rand Fishkin, Matt Cutts - These are just a few that I get emails from each and every day. There are many more that have fabulous content that you can learn from, and share ideas with.

Just google their names, and find their homepage, and get on their list, and then get on their friends lists too!!

Powerful surge of knowledge will be headed your way. What you do with it is completely up to you.
