Default AdWords; is world wide a waste of money?

I recently started an AdWords Campaign covering Europe, North America, Australasia etc. to get approx 2% CTR. with very few newsletter signups. I then switched to covering the whole World to get a 4.8% CTR with approx 18 newsletter sign-ups per day, mostly from India, on a $35 per day budget. I may be wasting my money, has anybody done the same thing, and got comments on the subject?

Hi mixedherbs21,

Are you talking about the PIPS newsletter?

You've got a pretty good CTR and number of sign-ups. The question now is how well you'll convert these sign-ups into buyers. How good is/are your backend offers. At a certain point, if these sign-ups are not buying, then you should probably look into the offer. A good basis for example is: for every 200 sign-ups, you should at least get 1 buyer. If it's PIPS, which is already proven to convert, then you should probably look into the region you're targeting. So for every 200 sign-ups from India, you should get at least 1 buyer. If not, then cut it off. There are so many variables to look into. It's continuous testing. But the good thing is, even if they don't buy now, at least you got their info. You could send them other offers in the future.

Yeah, Adwords can be pretty expensive. I almost lost my shirt last year

The key to successful Adwords campaigns is tracking with Analytics. Unfortunately PIPS isn't set up well for tracking. If you install Adwords conversion tracking you can tell which keywords you are bidding on are resulting in PIPS sign ups.

You can also track how many members are actually visiting your site after subscribing to your newsletter. You can track how long they are staying on your PIPS newsletter, if they aren't staying long then your chances of converting them into a member are pretty slim.

I would say targeting international countries is fine however as the quality of traffic is likely to be much lower than countries with English as the first language you want to pay much less per lead.

All the best,
Mike.

I would rather narrow my campaign to the english language countries. This way you can be more sure you have the best prospects who will be more able to run this business if they join.

I don't think mixedherbs21 included non-English speaking countries in his campaign when he said world-wide...or did you?
