Hi everyone. my names Dave (if you hadn't guessed) and I'm an 21 year old from Preston, UK. I work full time as a trainee accountant but spend alot of time trying togorw my site1 I started my PIPS site about 2 weeks ago - with no online marketing experience. So I am just learning a I go along - and it's quite addicting! One thing i've found is that I don't have anybody to benchmark myself against...is there anyone who's only been doing it as long as me or can give me any indication of how i'm doing content wise? I want to exceed where I should be ideally - I didn't start my site expecting to make $1000-s in a few days but doing everything right how long do results take generally? I have worked thourgh the 30 days and taken on board alot of the suggestions and am re-reading everything again and re-implementing! I'm sorry if this is a bit general but at least i've introduced myself! Many thanks David Chamberlain P.S (My site is Earn Cash at Home | Earn Extra Cash from Home if you want to have a look)! |

Hi Dave, welcome. You will get a lot of good information and suggestions soon, but my suggestion is not to spend a bunch of money. Set a budget and stick to it. There are a lot of free methods to work this business. Blogging and article marketing right from the start. That will help you build valuable backlinks. I sent you a PM. Good luck and have a good day. Leon |

Hey David! You're in good company here. There's so much you can learn and apply to your business by reading the different threads. I agree with Leon that you shouldn't spend a lot of money. There's many recommendations in the 30 Days Guide that are a complete waste of money. Many free methods of marketing are free and will build you a solid business. Just keep working at a steady pace and never stop working your business. It will take a lot of time and work that will eventually pay off if you stick with it. Read, Learn and Apply... |

Hi David, unfortunately as there are so many different factors which determine how quickly you will see results and if in fact you see any results at all that it is extremely difficult to benchmark yourself against anyone else. I think one big mistake people make is that they get impatient and start to spend money on a variety of tools and services in the hope that they will see results sooner. I'd recommend putting together a 12 month plan including what you are going to do each week to achieve whatever goal or goals you set. As you learn your plan will change however the important thing is that you are doing something to add value to your business, whether it is writing a blog post, submitting an article, creating a squidoo lens, blog commenting, posting in forums, etc. If whatever you are doing doesn't seem to be working then submit a post here and you should get some advice on what you might be doing wrong. I'd also recommend signing up with an RSS reader I personally use www.google.com/reader and subscribe to some good internet marketing and SEO blogs. Everyone seems to have their own favorites you should find some good ones here Popular marketing Bookmarks on Delicious Read and absorb as much as you can. All the best, Mike. |

Thanks for the advice guys. I know it will take time and i'm determined not to spend vast amounts of money. I have spent a bit to change my site around a bit but now I think i will just write articles and blog etc. At the minute I am using GetResponse, but am not having look generating leads. Would you recommend not using the premium version until you start seeing increased traffic? |

Hi Dave, Its an optional cost of course but if you are not upgraded in GR then when someone sees one of your newsletter issues there will be ads at the top of each issue that advertise other products and sometimes those ads are other PIPS ads...... When I first started I made sure I upgraded GR because I didnt want any of my hard work advertising my business or newsletter helping other people Help yourself first...LOL Take care Jeff |

Hi Dave, You are being very sensible, be patient and spend what budget you have wisely. If you are not sure what to spend on what then come to the forum and ask. The members here are very knowledgeable and helpful and the chances are they have done it before themselves and can help you to avoid making mistakes, best wishes, Mal |
