Twitter Tip, Follow the Famous: How About Ellen?

Hello, PIPSters:

I've discovered that there are NUMEROUS well know and famous members on Twitter. For example, I am following Anthony Robbins! (But I doubt Tony is following me! LOL).

Another popular figure I am following is Ellen DeGeneres of The Ellen Show.

I follow the famous for TWO REASONS:

1) For my personal interest, enlightenment or entertainment;

2) So it looks cool to my followers when they see me replying to tweets from famous people!

Actually, I do that with everybody. In addition to posting my own self-serving tweets throughout the day, I also look for interesting tweets from other members and do an @reply to their comments. Sometimes, just to acknowledge their interesting or valuable info. Sometimes to help draw more attention to something they are doing.

Ellen DeGeneres is a case in point. Ellen is trying to get one million followers on Twitter. In that light, she performed a very entertaining Twitter monologue on her show, then posted the clip on Twitter.

Whether you watch the Ellen clip or not, if you are a Twitter member, when you tweet, look for ways to reply to other members. It's one way to build up your presence and image as a contributing member.

I think if we spend a few minutes a day building up our "social reputation" on Twitter, we will be able to attract a few famous followers just like Graham has.

Great tips, GT. I try to glance at people's updates when I get a chance, and when something stands out, I try to @reply or RT. This is sure to get people's attention and boost your followers.

I am also following Ellen and Tony Robbins. For Ellen, I got to watch her everyday. The part that I like the most about her show is that it is a HAPPY show. If you are having a BAD day, go watch her show.

Tal, it's great to hear how The Ellen Show lifts your spirits. We don't get Ellen's show here (but we watch so little TV anyway). When she used to have her sitcom, we were able to watch a few episodes of that and it never failed to amuse us and yes, it lifted our spirits, too!
