StumbleUpon Private Messaging Problems :(

I've had a few people Private Message me on StumbleUpon. Well, I received another one two days ago, and the guy's interested in the business and wants to know more.

I'd love to tell him, but for some reason I can't reply to his message. Whenever I go to reply I get this message:

You must choose some topics to send messages.<br><a href="http://www.stumbleupon.com/interests.php"><b><font size=3>Choose some topics now!</font></b></a>

I'm not even sure what to do at this point because that's all I see. I know how to message friends and send them a page with the message. Right now the only thing I know to do is add him as a friend, and once he accepts I'll be able to message him.

If someone could explain how I can send someone a Private Message on StumbleUpon that would be great. It obviously can be done, but I just haven't figured out how yet.

Hi Alan,
when you go to one of your friends' page, or a follower page, you will see a link on the right side bar to send a message. You can also message people who are not your friends.

I've tried that. I clicked on "Send a Message" and the same thing shows up. I'm logged in to my account, so I'm not sure what's going on. I'm getting frustrated because I can't reply to this guy.

If i try to message some of my friends I get a "You don't have permission to message this user" message.

Okay, I figured out the problem. I decided to investigate further and went to the link Welcome to StumbleUpon since that's what the message said. Basically what they wanted me to do was choose some topics that interested me. Once I did that and saved my preferences I could message away with no problem.

Kind of ridiculous if you ask me, but all is working now. Yay!
