Hi everyone, I had a pagerank of 2 now I have 1. I don't know what happened. I guess Google doesn't appreciate me anymore. I hope I have'nt linked to any bad websites and got demoted. Dianne

Hi Dianne, this happens now and again. Your pages may fluctuate here and there as well as your keyword rankings. Don't worry about it too much, just keep plugging away and you'll be fine. Good luck to you, Tim.

Probably more important Dianne is how many backlinks do you have to your site and how many visitors are you getting everyday? Page Rank is over rated and many people get hung up on it. Don't worry about it and concentrate more on traffic.

Hi, I couldn't agree more with the other members, concentrate on backlinks and visiters to your site, conversions are what matter, not PR. regards, Mal. |

Page rank is definitely overrated, just keep plugging away, post new relevant content and keep working on backlinks. If your an article writer check out free traffic system to increase backlinks, you can post your articles there to 30 blogs each with a link to your website. i have found it a great tool for backlinks.

Ranking in Google is more important than page rank. Just be aware that PageRank exists and that building quality backlinks to your site and pages will help with your ranking and traffic volume, but don’t spend too much time thinking and worrying about the color of your green bar. I have seen new sites about 2 months old with no page rank yet outrank many older websites with very high PR. Peter Lee |

Ah... I would have to agree with the senior warriors here... Page rank is actually overrated. It does matter when you wanna exchange links or want to flip your website for some fast cash. But if you want a steady cash flow from your website, simply concentrate on getting more traffics/backlinks and exposure to your site! Regards Lokesh Sharma |

Dianne, that is bound to happen. Google keeps updating page rank and unless you really struggled for a higher page rank, chances are Google considers a lower pagerank even if you don't do anything wrong. I for one noticed how sometimes it can be very easy to get page rank but on the other hand sometimes you just land with a PR 3 and you can't explain it. Like some warriors already said, don't focus too much on Pagerank. Instead focus in increasing SERPs. |

Here is the degree of importance of PR if you take a look at this equation: PR (10%) + Quality Contents (30%) + Backlinks (60%) = Top Search Engine Success So in reality it is not something we should spend too much time worrying about how high our PR is, although it's good for our ego boosting. However it is still quite a highly regarded metric used by advertisers seeking out advertising opportunities in all online niche markets and blogs, besides the usual Alexa and Technorati Rankings.
