What is the function of Ping - O - Matic? I don't really understand. Why we need to ping new article in our blog?

Hi Kang,

Ping-o-Matic is simply something which notifies the other blog engines that you have a new post in your blog. If you're using Wordpress, this is done automatically. If you're using Blogger, you'll have to send your blog address to Ping-o-Matic to update the other blog engines that you've updated.

The reason of pinging them is to let everyone know you have a new post. Simple as that,

You should probably also consider using Onlywire to bookmark your blog page at up to 20 sites and for pure visitors to a site I haven't found anything better than Stumble Upon for traffic generation. I would say though that the quality of traffic on offer is very low but you can generate a couple of thousand views of your site within hours of stumbling.

Blogger.com also has a setting to ping your blog automatically as well as WordPress.

Some people still like to ping manually.

Ping-o-Matic is just one of the many pingers you can use and if you are going to ping manually I would have a few alternatives because often Ping-O-Matic is overwhelmed with traffic and you get errors.

Ones I like are ipings.com and autopinger.com - It's been awhile so I hope they are still operating.

Do know what is going on with pingoat.com. They have been working on their site for months now. Nothing shows except there message about fixing.

King Ping is also a good "pinging" service that I'd recommend.

Ping-o-matic also has a problem of timing out frequently. If this is your default service for WP you may want to change it, or at least add some others so that you are sure that your posts are getting pinged properly.

Ping-o-matic stopped working for me, although I haven't checked recently. I heard they block IP addresses if they receive too many pings from you in a short period of time. Not sure if that's true, but I know other people are having problems with them as well.

I do like Ipings, and yes, Pat, I miss Pingoat as well. Hope they will be back some day.

From personal experience, Ping-o-matic always or often show an error massage, but refreshing the page immedately it responds.

Infact that is one of the things i always enjoy doing

I'll have to try that and see if it works. I haven't bothered with Pingo-o-matic for a while now.
