Hi Everyone, I need some help. I've had a problem with others (not pipsters) hot linking pictures/images from my site for use on thier site. It uses up my bandwidth. One was directly like to a eBay auction. How can I stop them? Can I stop Google, etc from listing them from the images searches? Thx, Dan |

Ask Host4Profit this question for one, Dan - support(at)host4profit.net You may need to find out who the domain registrars are (whois.net, coolwhois.net or coolwhois.com) and report them at that level. NOt sure if these sites will help: http://rising.blackstar.com/how-to-s...-notice-2.html Non-Compete Form | Non-Compete Agreement | Non-Disclosure Form Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) | Home |

I did a little more digging on the net. It can be stopped. Check out this link - Stop Hotlinking with htaccess. Test your Image Hotlink Protection with our Hotlink Checker from altlab.com. Also your robot.txt can be updated. This should stop SE's from indexing your images. User-agent: * Disallow: /images/ We'll see if it helps. Thx, Dan |

Hey Dan, Thanks for sharing this information. Hot linking is becoming a serious issue these days. I came across a program one time that lets you safeguard your images, and if someone hot linked any of them, the image on their web page would read "this person is illegally using this image" or something like that. If I can find it I'll post the link here. |

It looks like the issue here has been resolved, I use hostgator for my hosting and they provide an automatic hotlinking program, that once you enter your website's name in it, it will stop others hotlinking to it!.

That's cool. I use HostGator and didn't know that. Thanks for pointing it out.
