Premium Domain Name?
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

I am about to begin the Plug-In-Profit journey and have a quick question. For this application, is purchasing a "premium" domain name advantagous or not really beneficial?

I'm not talking about a $10,000 domain but something maybe priced in the hundreds.

Thank you,

Depends on what you refer to as a premium domain name. A member here recently made a post about his domain name selections based on keywords and recommended them for PIPS members. Turned out that almost all of the domain names were actually horrible selections because they were deindexed by Search Engines, Blacklisted, etc.

So before you pay for a premium domain name make sure you do your research.

Thank you for the feedback. I did read that post, and I guess my question is more along the lines of...... if I have a plug-in profits site, how important is the actual domain name itself? Assuming I promote them the same, would a "premium" domain name, short, containing common words, etc. truly gain a measurable advantage over a less optimized domain?

Jeffery,

I presume you are speaking of my earlier post on keywords.

Nowhere in that post did I talk about using them as EMD's. I only referred to these as keywords that got a lot of searches in the search engines. Keywords that might assist PIPS members in drawing in more traffic if they optimized their PIPS sites or pages to a target audiance that was searching for a specific keyword.

If there was a misinterpretation, I apologize for that. Those are just for targetting specific keywords to get traffic... NOT as a recommendation as a domain name.

Well, I'm going to try to stay with a "non-premium" name and see that while most .com's are taken, their are .net and .biz available. In 2013, should these be avoided for a plug-in profit site? Also, would either of these extensions impact (negatively) and e-mail/auto responder campaign? Thank you,

To answer your question. The domain name itself is important for a number of good reasons. In my own experience it is a good idea to have at least one good keyword in a domain name that represents the product, service, or the subject matter. Also, some people prefer a brand name that represents the business.

There were thousands of sites deindexed last year for domain name abuse according to search engine policies. So, before you buy a domain name from a domain auction, etc., I am suggesting that you do the research, otherwise the domain you purchase may be one of the deindexed domains.

In the article I am referring to I explain how to do the research. Be advised that it is nothing new. Just good ol plain domain name research methods that have been on the net for a very long time.
