Alan,

I had a 500 error not long ago and contacted support at HGator.

They fixed it within an hour!

Try them again showing details of the error.

Are you looking for a business opportunity that’s property related? Well, the answer may be closer than you think – right on your doorstep perhaps. In fact, there’s money to be made anywhere you see a property for sale. Let me explain…

Hi Graham, they were able to get it working. I just got off the phone with them.

My site is now switched over, officially, and I'll be transferring my domain to namecheap.com probably tomorrow and cancelling my H4P account.

Thank you everyone for your help and support. I really appreciate it.

I still don't know what to do about my article directory, so for now I'm going to do a 301 redirect and point it to my articles.htm page instead.

If you haven't transferred your domain then that will stop things from working as they should. Once your domain is set up everything should work fine.

Now you're confusing me. I have full control over my domain and have the DNS settings pointing to HostGator's name servers. I still haven't transferred it to namecheap.com yet, but it's now in my full control and can do what I want with it.

OK, sorry I misread your post. I also missed the last two posts in my haste so I see it is all up and working as it should.

Domain transfer is complete. That concludes the transfer of my site.

*sigh*

Hello,

I know this post is a month old but I was wondering. You mean to tell me, people can transfer there accounts after 3 months and still get there checks in the mail from host4profit and continue to promote it ?

The only thing that i see wrong with this scenario is...why would people stay after 3 months when they can get inexpensive hosting and still reap the benefits.

Thats kinda defeating the purpose, you build up your downline and after 3 months they leave host4profit...there goes your $10 a month out the window.

Why am I paying 24.95 for a month then ?

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Very valid point there. I guess the whole point of the $24.95/month... it's that high as you earn commissions for every member you refer. If you wish to forfeit the commissions, it's less than that, but still more than Host Gator.

I guess they're banking, or hoping, on the fact that people will be willing to pay the $24.95/month and maybe not know that after 3 months they can go elsewhere and still earn commissions.

I agree that it defeats the purpose, but as long as I'm earning my commissions I'm happy.

Wow, that really is enlightening ! They should stop that ..the whole point should be to lock people in. If you quit or change servers you lose your commissions and those signups under you should go in a raffle of sorts to payed participants.

Get them to get 3 signups , so its free...and once they have 3 signups, chances are they will not quit.

I was wondering why I lose so many people after 3 months or so. I am going to have to think twice now.

That has really put a damper on it for me..this has to stop......I bet I have had this happen to me about 40 times at least if this is the case.

Hi Jeff,

Wow, sorry to hear about that. I really don't know what they're thinking with this philosophy. I'd personally be willing to give up my commissions as I pay much less now for hosting. That's the way it should be if you switch. They're losing out on a lot of money.

I also moved my web host to Hostgator and everything was done for me by them. Do take note that they will transfer one domain you select as your primary domain free. Any others is chargeable. I had a second domain but they didn't charge me as it was a new domain and the file size is small.

Do note that each time you request Hostgator to restore any files, they charged you $15 per restoration. I know H4P does not. But then again these are few and far in between occasions that warrant recovery of your files, although it happened to me 2 or 3 times so far. The service I find is excellent and I have never been happier switching host. To me that was one of the best decisions I made.

I wrote a post in my blog on some of the things to look out for when you change host. If anyone is changing host, do come to my blog and read it.

Peter

Hi Peter,

Yes, your blog post was a great read. Nice to see you switched and are happy about the decision. Since mine was an add-on domain, I had to transfer the files myself since I didn't want to pay. I wasn't aware of a recovery fee, but hopefully I won't run into the problems you did.

Paid account (active Host4Profit Account): 40% / $10.00 per referral
