A few days back my website reached the first page on google for the term "home business"
I had posted about it in this forum, and have a lot of support from great webmasters in this forum.

2 days later my site went from PR2 to PR3, honestly I don't care much about the PR.
Today I cheked and my website is the 10th result at the first page, at the second page number one is PR5 home business related article directory.

kafter that there is a PR1 very simple website and then a pr4 website.

so the PR mean nothing in the listing and actual ranking of the websites.

to get there you need to have:

1: Good on page optimization. learn how to optimize your pages, focus each page to at maximum 2 keywords or 1 long tail keyword, don't stuff the page with too many keywords.

Be sure that you don't have too many links in one page that point to external pages. you can have as many internal links as you like.

each page of your site can reach a high ranking, so be sure to have the first link on the page pointing back to your home page with the keyword you target. The first link in any page get the higher value.

2. link building service that can help you get hundreds of back links fast. this service need to provide you with in text links from pages with content and less links.

If a site only has a few text-rich pages (such as simpler internet sales sites like mine: Welcome to GPS for the Outdoors .com - Free Shipping on All Orders ), should the focus still be on two keywords? Is there a way to quantify "stuffing"? I've kept keywords in mind when drafting and revising the text on the pages. However, the very nature of our product lends itself to a keyword-heavy environment. Do you have any advice?

I really don't care about those terms for keywords, They are only promo terms for some products that do nothing.

You need to research keywords and build a list of keywords that you want to target.

You can use Google Adwords or word tracker, or even use the free trail of MarketSamurai.

Build the list
choose 2 main keywords for your home page
choose some other long tail keywords (2 tier keywords) that are great for your pages.

for instance, you can have "make money online" as a main keyword, and make money with affiliate programs, or make money from home as your 2 tier keywords

now for each pair of 2 tier keywords (or one) try to build a separate page, optimize your page for that keyword only.

then use your link building tool (you must have one) to build back links to that page with the keyword as your anchor text.

The more relevant content you have in the page (rich text) the more phrases will appear, those phrases could be used by some one in the search box then your page will appear.

here is an example

a phrase "highest earning affiliate programs" that i did not optimize my pages for was used in the searches and one of my sub-pages was showen as the 4th result in the first page of Google.

this phrase brought to my site 3 visits this week. It's not much but when you have a rich content your pages will show more and more.

The most important element is to optimize your page for 1 or 2 keywords and use those keywords as your anchor text when you are linking back to that page.

don't focus only at your home page, start with your sub-pages and your home page rank will improve automatically

jossefsal, Thanks for Sharing with The Group here. I can confirm these techniques work especially on Google BUT one may be short term ..There is a couple important points to add.

I wanted to add that one should be careful when you " get hundreds of back links fast". Yes, short-term it can show a contribution to seo ranking. However LONG TERM, google will recognize the spike in backlinks or exchanges and will detrimentally weight these quick links. I'm not sure of the options available at the link sites you mentioned, they probably do allow gradually adding alot of links as gotlinks.com and others which have an option where you can add links gradually, either automatically or at a random rate amount added daily or infrequently. Adding links gradually , even from the sites referenced above will greatly add to your backlink weighting.

Also when choosing categories at these link exchanges, add the categories associated with your own site. If you have an internet business, stick with seo, internet marketing , website design etc...

If you have a hobby website, partner with other hobby sites, especially in your niche. or even general family sites, etc

If you exchange links with all kinds of sites (even not related), I understand it will not harm your rank. However, the more selective you are so that your links offer value to your website visitors; you will grab a heavier positive ranking from google. of value in ranking, especially with the sites you link to. or example, If you link to a bunch of zero Pr site, you will watch your ranking go down.. Word to the wise...

Remember Its The Quality of links Not just the Quantity.
And maybe Pr does not matter for you.I know quality backlinks will overcome a low Pr, but Pr is

By the way Yahoo Search and MSN also weigh backlinks high but what is working now for some of my sites is in adding new material of value almost daily or at least regularly, yuk..lot of work.

links from social bookmarking sites and referrals can not only put you on page 1 but near or at the top.

So in addition, join linked in, facebook, twitter, put videos on utube, etc

Become an expert in your field.
