Re: Wanna hire a cheap article writer? Here's what you get.

Assuming your definition of "great quality articles" coincides with what most people would consider great quality, these writers must be seriously under-charging for their services.

Re: The Ugly and Often Hilarious Reality of Content Writing

I've had my fair share of the bad ones too, but then there are the good ones that make up for it.

Re: Why do some clients think the writers they hire are beneath them?

That's true, but I've found that clients who are prepared to pay a decent rate usually treat you a lot better than the bottom feeders paying $5 or less for 500 words, for example. But of course, it...

Re: Why do some clients think the writers they hire are beneath them?

Yes Steve, I understand that the person hiring me needs to tell me what to do, but that's just it - he hadn't told me properly what to do, and when I asked for clarity on the matter, he exploded.

Re: Are There Many Clients Who Pay $50/Article?

Precisely! It's all about effectively marketing yourself. Checking out the jobs pages, the content mills, and maybe the occasional Craigslist ad, is NOT marketing.

Re: Freelance writing: How much to charge?

A good start? $3-5 for 500 words articles is a good start?

That's the worst advice I've ever seen!

Anyone who can write well can start charging at least $25 for 500 words, and go up from there....

A much better plan is to go above $20 immediately. There isn't an apprenticeship to complete here - start out as you mean to go on.
