Very bad idea. Redirecting will not transfer all of your previous rankings to the new site. You will lose a ton of organic traffic doing this.

If you make the main category noindex you don't have a duplicate content issue. I also always make the subsequent pages of my tags and categories noindex. I wouldnt worry about losing link juice...
