Default SEO Ramifications If I Remove bloginfo & name?

Hi Guys

I hope someone can help me here.

I am in the process of amending a WP template. I have my own header graphic which I want to put up. The template has a graphic already in the header which I want to replace with own.

I know how to amend the header .php file and replace the graphic but in order for it to 'look right' I also have to remove the boginfo description and name fields so as the header looks right.

My question is when I do this does it affect the SEO characteristics of the blog. I need to ensure that I maximise the SEO qualities and since I haven't done this before (needed to, is probably a better term)

I look forward to your reply

Regards

Peter

Hi, Peter. The answer is yes, especially with the blog name, since that's typically the only use of H1 in the theme. And H1 is considered quite important in SEO.

If at all possible, I would advise designing the graphic so you can still let the name display on top of it. If you need to make the name smaller or reposition it, you can use the stylesheet. Even a small H1 counts as H1.
