Google Announced that it is coming out with an Operating System, Chrome OS, coming next year. Official Google Blog: Introducing the Google Chrome OS This will compete with the already established, (and not free) Microsoft Windows And Apple's Leopard. Google's OS is completely Open-Source, like Linux. I personally think this is going to be a pivotal year for computers and even more, programmers and Internet Marketers. What are your thoughts? |

Chrome OS = Linux + Chrome Chrome = WebKit ∴ Chrome OS = Linux + WebKit Albeit with a new lightweight window manager. AFAICS this "New OS" is designed to bring a simplified quick-boot environment to netbooks and the like. Quote:

Well the tools to actually build 'apps' will need to improve. As we all know there are some good javascript frameworks out there for building feature rich UIs but there isn't any rapid application development tools for web app building. windows 3.1 literally exploded with the release of visual basic as 1000s of people overnight could write their own software quickly and easily (i hate vb with a passion btw its soooo lame) but that was key to adoption, lots of available titles spurred the uptake of the OS. Knowing what google *can* do in the webspace with their current offerings Im sure they are lining something up. |

Perhaps it's because the world of Cloud Computing is becoming closer to a reality now. Imagine being an Internet marketer designing a web system that acts like many of the desktop applications out there. Subscription fees, with a lightweight interface that never slows down, unlike Windows and such. I think it will be an interesting year where web apps really explode more-so than in years past. Big profits, big opportunity. That is why I think it will be big. Quote:

I agree with you there, but hopefully we will be able to design a few desktop apps as well, but we will have to see what Google says. Quote:

This is only good for only internet users, not developers! Because, Flash Player etc. can be made for that linux distributions, but it will take years to get some useful softwares for google chrome distribution. Lets See what happens. Thanks | |
