Default Powerpoint to Video Help

I've converted my free report into a powerpoint to upload to my blog and distribute to video sharing sites but the quality of the text is too poor to use. So I now have some questions and need a bit of help.

Does anyone have any tips on improving the quality of text in videos?

What is the best system to use for powerpoint to video... i've tried moviemaker and memoriesonweb and both times i've ended up with poor quality

Perhaps it's just the format i'm saving in ... what's best to use?

Any help greatly appreciated

I use Camtasia and never had a problem with it. It has a plugin for Powerpoint, which makes it easy. I always save my project as avi and then upload to the tube sites.

Later,
Dan

Have you also looked at Jing! - that's a free alternative to Camtasia, but from the same stable I believe...

Have you tried using authorstream? I use that to create mini videos. It also outputs the video in HD. Here is one of my mini videos in youtube.

I second the vote for Camtasia, it's PowerPoint integration is very easy to use. They have a 30-day free trial so you can "try before you buy".

I have used CamStudio to convert powerpoint slideshows to video in wmv format. Used windows movie maker for editing it. Uploaded it to youtube and other video sharing sites. No problems whatsoever. And its freeware.

authorstream.com looks interesting. I shall try this out very soon now. Thanks for the share.

1 question though - can we add voiceover to the video at authorstream?

... text is the most critical part in video legibility.

Type likes to be razor sharp to be read well. Unfortunately, type is the first victim of compression artifacts.

The key to good compression is good preparation.

First, check font sizes, when in doubt make it less text with bigger letters (font size +).

Use Sans Serif Fonts aka "arial, helvetic, ... " over Serif fonts aka "Times New Roman" ...

Bolding helps, too.

See, that you have good contrast between type and background.

Pro Version:
If you want to get fancy, export the Powerpoint or whatever original source into a sequence of images and import those into a video editing program ... then you can preview how your text looks in the preview window and get a good idea of "the workings"

Hope that helps a bit.

Sorry about my late reply. I haven't seen any option to add a voice over but in powerpoint you can add a narration and i guess authorstream would be able to convert it as well with your video. Haven't tried it yet cause I hate doing voice over.
