Default I Need A Simple Classifieds Ads Type Script

Hi Warriors,

I'm looking for someone who can create a very simple classifieds ads type of script.

Basically here's what I need.

- 5-10 categories
- Member signup/login feature
- Member uploading pictures
- Member feedback/rating system
- Expiring Ads
- Edit/delete ads
- Featured Ads system (Paypal)
- Member emails added to my Getresponse account
- Member contact details hidden to visitors until they sign up
- Maybe a few more features when we get going...

I know there are many classifieds ads scripts out there but they're either too advanced or don't do what I want them to do.

I need this pretty quick, anyone up for the task? I will pay of course.

Thanks
Adam

Hi, Adam. FWIW here's my advice.

First of all, there's nothing simple about a classified ads script, even one that has a reduced feature set compared to some. The backbone of any such script has many components that all must be robust, secure against hacking, and must work properly together.

If I were you, I'd look again at the existing options and see where it would make sense to base your site on a modified (reduced, extended, or changed) version.

I searched for a few minutes and found 68 Classifieds. (BTW, I'm not affiliated with them in any way.) It's been around long enough to be quite stable and secure. It has add-on modules available to do most of what you're asking, plus some companies that specialize in custom mods.

I expect that by taking that approach you could get your site launched for under $1000 and have something secure to build on. If you have someone build it from scratch, it will take longer, cost more, and you'll have a 1.0 version that will probably have a bunch of vulnerabilities and bugs in spite of everyone's best efforts and intentions.

I know which path I would choose.

Thanks for your help Steve, I didn't know it would actually be that much work, I'll think about your option. Thanks for taking time out to reply.

It doesnt have to be that complication, there are many good calssified scripts that are built ontop of wordpress (for example) and therefore have the security and flexibility of wordpress but with the features you want.

I recommend ClassiPress Theme or google has lots of choice.

Here's a suggestion:

Run this search: Search Listings | Hot Scripts

Find a script that comes close to the features you want;

Make sure the source code is not encrypted (if in doubt, post the link to the product here and I'll check, or contact the script owner and ask).

Hire a programmer to make the modifications you need.
