Default Membership site script + custom work = problems - advice please

I am developing a membership site using Johnny Slater's Simple Member Pro. I hired a coder at Elance who did a great job creating the custom features I wanted and on his development server everything seemed fine. Once the custom work was done and it was all moved to my server to test I found that the member pages on my site were no longer accessible through the member menu or links. Turns out the coder had bypassed templates and the member directory in setting up all of his work. Johnny cleaned up the SMP files for me but now I have to address the custom work. Just moving the files to the member directory is not a fix. They have internal links that are broken if you move them, the database connectors will be wrong, and likely other things as well.

I'd go back to the guy who did the custom work but I'm worried I'll end up with a bigger mess. Johnny suggested I find a Warrior to sort it all out but so far all those I've contacted who have advertised their programming skills are not free to work on it. Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations for me?

Thanks
~Cynthia

Hi Nathan.

Even if I were to start over I would not change to a different membership site script. I'm quite happy with Simple Member Pro. I do need the custom features I had developed and they do not come standard in any membership site script. What I think I need is someone to take a look at the files and see if the fixes are easy or if, like you say, it is a total disaster and I have to start over. So I guess I'm looking for a recommendation. Do you have anyone to recommend?

Hi, Cynthia. I have time to take a quick look with an eye toward answering the question of how extensive the fixes would be.

Please check your PM for more.

Thanks.
