Default Problems With JVM1 & HostGator = 500 Internal Server Error

Okay, so last night, I log in to my admin area of JVM1 and everything is working just fine.

I wake up this morning, get a message from a fellow Warrior who tried to sign up for a membership subscription in my sig tag and guess what. . . . ."500 Internal Server Error" city

I contacted HostGator about this recent error, and after sending them info on what happened, they asked me to tell them how to "recreate" the error?!!

So I sent them a message back telling them that when it comes to running any page that calls on the JVM1 script, ya get the 500 internal server error.

They are telling me there's a problem with the database.

What the heck could that be?! It was working perfectly fine for a looooong time, then suddenly crashes in the middle of the night??

Any Warriors out there, especially Brian C. , that know what in the world I can do to fix this error, please let me know as I cannot access any portion of the JVM1 script whatsoever.

I can access my Cpanel admin, ftp access, and see every single other web page connected to my site. Just not the parts that call on JVM1 for content or operations.

Thanks to everyone who can help.

Hi Tracy, have you checked the error log?

I did, but it's all gobbledy gook to me Vince. Can't make heads or tails of it myself, so I'm putting up the error log info here. Maybe someone can translate what needs to be done. And on what side. . .

Quote:
Here's a short list of what's happening with regards to the error log:

[Tue Oct 20 10:18:02 2009] [error] [client 74.54.131.114] File does not exist: /home/ebookemp/public_html/500.shtml
13: /home/ebookemp/public_html/cgi-bin/JVM/sys-jvm/modules/JVM/Request/CGI.pm:38 JVM:: Request:: CGI:: processRequest
12: /home/ebookemp/public_html/cgi-bin/JVM/sys-jvm/modules/JVM/Request/CGI.pm:66 JVM:: Crontab::act_do
11: /home/ebookemp/public_html/cgi-bin/JVM/sys-jvm/modules/JVM/Crontab.pm:22 JVM:: Ownership:: set
10: /home/ebookemp/public_html/cgi-bin/JVM/sys-jvm/modules/JVM/Ownership.pm:33 Minima:: Entity:: get

All I can see is that it's saying "Does Not Exsist", and I don't know why it would be doing that. I am at a loss as to why it would have been working fine, then kaput the next day.

The full list for the error log is in the .txt file attachment below here:

This is what HostGator hit me back with:

These are the only files modified since yesterday:

./members/.htaccess
./hotproductnotify.info/error_log

./cgi-bin/JVM-logs/jvm.distr.errlog
./cgi-bin/JVM-pool/sessions/20091019/06/20/20091019062015-1E5C7600

./cgi-bin/JVM-pool/sessions/20091019/06/20/20091019062015-1E5C7600/autokeep/jvm/admin/table/customer.html
./e37services.com/order/delavo/zen-sitebox/comp/kit.zen/goth/zen/request/sfv
./e37services.com/order/delavo/zen-sitebox/session/browser/.jinp
This doesn't even make any sense as I haven't even mucked around with the delavo script, which is on an entirely different domain, for days now!

Do I have a hacker?

There must be an .htaccess (or a file permission) issue, delete it (save a copy though),
and then try to load the site again, if it doesn't work, make a blank .htaccess file and see if it works.
I'm no techie though, here's what I found on Google

Hopefully some coder will be able to help you!

Thanks for that Vince. Much appreciated.

I tried deleting the .htaccess file and then got a 403 "not allowed access" error instead.

My problem with deleting or changing the .htaccess file is that the jvm1 script calls on it to allow users access to the restricted area designated for members only.

So, were I to make changes to it, that might possibly foul up the system further. As of now, members, myself included, can still obtain access to the restricted "members only" area as I have tested that and it's working fine.

I suppose my best bet is to wait for another response here, and one from HostGator to see if we can't hash out the problem.

YES! HostGator was able to fix the problem. They said there was a discrepency with the database info being passed between the script and the actual database.

So, problem solved.

Thanks to Vince for trying to help sort this one out.

Thanks to HostGator though - to each his own.
