Cn I run asp.net script on linux/unix servers?

My niece has a project and she needs to include an asp.net chatroom scriot in her website. I am looking for some free script but I don't have windows server. Can I test these scripts in my unix or linux servers?

I searched everywhere and I can't find a free windows server even just for testing...

actually there is an open source .NET compiler that runs on Linux and will serve up .NET sites, not try Main Page - Mono

never tried them but it looks like Free ASP.NET 4.0 web hosting with SQL Server 2008 express has free servers available

Apache does support .NET and there is fork project going on. You can search apache's official website for this. and you need to ask your hosting provider as well.

Yes, there's Mono project which supports ASP.NET but:
-it's almost impossible to find anywhere on linux hosting ISPs - and most ISP are not very willing to install it
-it's not yet fully compatibile with M$ ASP.NET...

like was mentioned. there is mono. ANd liek what was also mentioned availability is rather limited.

there was another project going to port asp.net to linux. However that i am not sure about what happened to that project.

there is another option. I am not sure the cost, check out grasshopper. it is a Visual studio addin that can compile your .net projects into java format. I believe it is compatible with the vs express edition.
