When i ever do Php coding on large scale, it is with Zend Studio. Not a free app, but deffinately a good one for php development.

Definitely go with Notepad++, very clean and lots of language options. It is also free and easy to use.

Get a unix box, and use vim with syntax highlighting. Anything else, is overkill.

Hi,

I have been using EditPlus for almost 6 - 7 yrs & as far as I'm concerned , its better than other editors available.

Also its light weight , has syntax-highlighting & other PHP/HTML related tools built-in.

You can also use Dreamweaver , its quite good too (though its highly used by designers)
