Hi by "Strongest Severs", do you mean that they are capable of handling a little more pressure from high volume traffic?

Because I think that it is this traffic that causes CPU throttling, causing everything to slow down.

I am not sure about the advantages of having more option on the cpanel for simple websites, but I guess its an advantage for lots of backend changing and customisation.

Also I havent hear any personal reviews about media temple, anyone here have experience using them?

If I had to choose between the two I would use bluehost simply because most of my friends use it. But personally I use Fasthosts and dedicated servers.

Bluehost has a bundle of free software, such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Magento, etc, packaged together as SimpleScripts. This makes installation of any of these software on your hosting account as simple as choosing one of them and clicking the "Install" button. It doesn't need you to manually create a database for the application, as it's done automatically.

Its advantage is that it enables people who are not comfortable making installations to do so through cPanel by a few clicks of buttons.

Even though Bluehost has SimpleScripts, I still prefer to install these scripts by myself.

Even though im not very technical I think I would want to try and install the scripts myself, at the very least I may gain a little undersatanding of how the system works/flows.

1 Click install arent bad at all though, it's actually a very good time saver.

You're right, it's better to install your scripts by yourself. Afterall, it's not that hard to do.

I even deleted the SimpleScripts' FTP details in my account, for security reasons.

For all those considering hostgator, you might want to check seohosting ( SEO Hosting - SEO Web Hosting with cPanel and Multiple Class C IP Addresses ). That is a hostgator company as well, and you can host multiple sites on the same account all on different class C IP addresses.

I have been using them for some time with great results.

Bluehost doesn't actually handle pressures like high volume traffic well. Under such situation, your site will be relegated to CPU throttling. CPU throttling causes high bounce rate, as visitors are forced to move away from the site.

I really haven't done an in-depth calculation of the number of visitors at a particular time that causes this issue.

Whatever, I will still like to keep some of my sites there.

I think it would be difficult to accurately define a number that can be considered "high volume". Since it really depends on how much the hardware itself is capable of handling.

100,000 visitors can be high volume for 1 server while 5,000 visitors can be high volume for another. Directly relating to the age and capabilities of the hardware.

( i think :P )

Yes, I'm agreed with the above opninion, Bluehost and hostgator is the same level at their service, don't get confiused of this, just make sure what you needs
Beside, you are comparing two of the biggest hosting in this world, don't be bothered

Yes, I know they are two of the biggest in the world, that is why I am comparing, the reason being if all technical/hardware aspects are nearly identical, then it would come down to experience and customer <-> Business interations.

Their customer service, their ability to understand and solve, their understanding of customer needs that help them develop themselves further.

I think there are people who would choose a host company simply because there is a nice person to speak to at the end of other line.

for example, I wouldn't want to be speaking to a moody/emotionless/zombie-like customer service rep. on the other end of the line.

maybe that's just me though

See what Bluehost states here: Web hosting provider - Bluehost.com - domain hosting - PHP Hosting - cheap web hosting - Frontpage Hosting E-Commerce Web Hosting Bluehost

Resource Protection
"Provides protection from other abusive users that would intentionally or unintentionally consume too much cpu, memory, or disk I/O operations."

I just came across it yesterday, and imagine Bluehost calling its customers "abusive", simply because of getting visitors. I felt so bad after reading the information they put up on that web page.

Mexabet, I understand how you feel, I mean, people make a living online from using their services and I assume quite a few pay very good money for other services.

Referring to these people who pull heavy traffic (for their income) as abusive, it just doesn't seem right to me.

A request to ammend their text may be in order, but will they listen? :P

I will complain to the CEO, Matt Heaton, and also at the Bluehost Forum about their choice of words on that web page. It's very unacceptable.

I will do what I have to do, but if they still don't realize the such words hurt customers who patronize them, then I will be content that I tried.

Such a thing will eventually end, when I have money to host my sites on my server.

Yep, in this world you don't get unless you ask (for most people im guessing :P ), lets see how it goes.

In a way its a test of their customer service aswell, to see how this matter is dealt with by their team.

A forum Mod replied and said I was "reading way too much into that language". And he suggested working with Bluehost to resolve the issue, which I did a long time ago. Then they asked me to upgrade to a server where I could use about 75% of server resources. I couldn't afford to pay far more than necessary, and everything stalled.

I have had a Hostgator account for about 5 years now.

But I need another hosting account. It is always good to have more than one. So I will go with Bluehost.

One thing I noticed was that you can pay via Paypal (and credit card) at Bluehost. To my knowledge, Hostgator does not allow Paypal.

So this may be something to consider before selecting your host. I actually have credit cards, but I don't like to use them all the time so will probably take Bluehost up on their Paypal option.

Refer visitors to my PLR article site and get 50% of each sale via Paypal. Click Here for more info.

Yep payment options are a pretty big deciding factor on online purchases of products and services, paypal integration has become a very important part of online business, I think maunly because so many people use it and how easy it is to use instead of re-typing ur details over n over again lol

This is a plus sign for Bluehost! They even have an option to pay through money order.

I have never used either personally but I have heard good things of both. You may do some searches in google to find about the companies, but usually you will only find articles of the 1 in a million customers who are irate and ranting there, not people praising the good service.

#1 Reason for me why hostgator is great - The live help chat that is available 24/7. I know that seems like a common day occurence now on major sites, but this alone has saved my butt multiple times and kept me from spending money on odesk or rentacoder.

Often times someone at hostgator will help resolve or just do the task at hand as long as it isn't too labor intensive.

BlueHost and HostGator are two well-known web hosting company. Both were examined by the Fire Click here and are both considered a leader in web hosting. Each company has received five stars in his opinion, and both were much more good than bad points list.

I think using both (or even more) hosting services is nice for SEO, since your websites are on different IPs and you can link them.

One thing I would say about Hostgator is that their hold up is A1. Many a time they have gone in and fixed my issue in a straight line off no questions asked and no accuse.

Flash is accomplished on a customer computer. You are merely hosting a flash file, as long as they can access the file it shouldn't subject where it is hosted.

Here is a quick way to figure out whether a hosting provider is a better choice. Are they going to provide you their own 24 hour security monitoring, daily backups, uptime, etcetera? Are they SAS 70 Type II certified? Can you scale up as needed (shared, VPS, Dedicated)? Do they throttle CPU load and memory resources?

The answer to these questions becomes clear very quickly...

Bluehost is cheaper and I find I have had no limitations with them. Great service.
