Default Assistance required with FLV videos

I hope this is the right place to post this question.

I'm going to be producing some videos for both free, public consumption as well as "members-only" stuff.

I'd prefer not to use YouTube. I'd like to have them appear similar to what you see at MassControlSite (Frank Kern's videos).

But it seems to me that producing screen-capture videos....exporting them as MOV...then converting them to FLV...then uploading them to the Net...is a HUGELY inefficient workflow. (I just did a 25 minute screencapture video that literally took a couple of hours to convert to FLV.)

Then...once it's converted to FLV, how do I create the HTML code to get the movie to play on the page?

I'm sure these are common questions and I really DID make an effort to finding the answer here before posting. But if you can assist, I'd appreciate it!

Tony, what tool did you use to convert from mov to flv?
(on what platform too...)

It should not take that long - even with free software...

The code to embed a flv onto a page relies on a player program (check out flowplayer.org for lots of examples)

Kind regards, Spencer

Spencer, thanks for your assistance. I'm on a Mac and the software that I bought for MOVtoFLV conversion is called Video2SWF 2. I'm sure the length of time had something to do with the settings I chose.

I think this might wind up being a good example of something I need to outsource. I don't mind investing my time to create the raw movie but time is too valuable for me to sit around trying to figure this out, uploading it, configuring the player, testing the page, etc.

Sigh. Time to hire a web guy, I guess.

Tony
