Proxy Server Setup & Hosting

I would like to setup a proxy server. I know many hosting companies do not let this happen. I guess this is a 2 part question.

Any recommended trusted hosting companies that allow proxy server scripts?

Any proxy server software that you would recommend?

New to proxy server concepts.

I thank you advance for any advice.

We allow proxy servers on our reseller accounts, not on our shared plans.

The reason hosting companies don't usually allow them is because it can jeopardize the reputation of the IP address you run the site off of. It can also cause the server to lag if you get too much traffic.

I can't make any suggestions on proxy software though, as I've never run one.

Does the hosting servers have Non-Parsed Header (NPH) CGI scripts?

To be honest, I thought it did, but from some quick checks it looks like it doesn't and I cannot find definitive instructions on how to enable it in Perl lol.

Thanks... I wish it was offered as it sounds like a great hosting deal and ideal for my purpose. Suppose I'll keep hunting. The problem is finding trust worthy as well.
