I really need your help with setting up a myspace type page

I have this niche, a very good one. One that I've been in for a long time but I need a way for people to pay me a monthly fee so that they get access to a site kind of like myspace where they can make their own mini site so to speak.

I would market the site by spending heaps of money on SEO, and I can sell it no problem, I have direct access to the end user(s).

I'm pretty versed in Wordpress and joomla, any idea on how I could get something like this started?

Are you talking about a fee for a whole site (their own domain or a sub domain of yours) or a fee to have some pages on one site?

I'd look through the available plugins for Joomla. There's bound to be something ready to go that does what you need.

No need to re-invent the wheel.

I was hoping not to reinvent something. I would like it to be sub domains kind of like wordpress.com but without that much functionality. They would have an about me page a blog page and a page for product. Maybe a testimonial page along with a place for videos. That would be it.

Ill take a look at Joomla, I'm pretty familiar with it a least.

DotNetNuke (similar concept to postnuke/phpnuke)
has the concept of "host" (you) and portals (admins)

where portals can be domains, subdomains or subdirectories.
and where you can choose to charge hosting fees for the portals.

Integrates direct with PayPal.

So I would expect you to be able to find similar functionality in many content management systems like Joomla

I'm looking at Elgg.org right now. It allows me to make a social network site, i installed it and am playing around with it now, its pretty damn neat. I need to be able to accept payments though, any ideas?
