.Net or Java?

Its all personal preference. What I suggest to all members that are looking to get into programming, is to choose the language that you are most comfortable. No one person can be a master at every programming language, its just not mentally possible.

Choose something that you enjoy writing and have the most motivation for.

Btw, Java is a much bigger language and more widely used then .Net.

If you go with Java, IBM has an MVC application called WebSphere with free development tools and instances. Check out the IBM web site.

That said, do not limit yourself to one set of tools. Programming can encompass many tools, languages and syntax but "data in" -> process -> "data out" is always the model for business information development.

Firstly the thing is that both the programming languages, either Java or .Net have specifications different from each other. In addition to that in IT world, there are many companies which work on both platforms. It is the choice of the person that for which language is he more inclined to and regarding the question-

Is it possible to get a job after BCA in Development field.
it would be better if the person continues for MCA or rather than that if he takes tutorial classes for any programming language from a recognized institute.

Both are of different, powerful programming languages/platforms. Both are good. For basic mobile application development, JAVA (J2ME, J2EE) is good. And while coming to the desktop apps i choose both for being best and in the web apps development i do choose .net (asp.net) first and then JAVA.

It somewhat depends on what platform are you targetting.

If you haven't looked into it, check out Rails. Ruby on Rails. You won't regret it.

actually .Net is a proper field whereas java is being used in all fields. For example javascript.
The thing to compare here is the .Net or the pHp. But still I would prefer the .Net in your case as it has more scope and very much potential. People mostly find it easy to learn than the pHp so I would say go for it with close eyes

JAVA is the best and much wider area then any other language but asp is also a good language to learn and got much scope also whether learning c and c++ doesnt results out in profit coz they are out from the market. Python is also one of my fav. language coz we can use that language in terms of database stealing and hacking too.

It really depends on what you are doing, both are very good. I personally like .Net as it is a very fast programming language. If it takes me 100 hours to do a project in Java I could do it in 70 hours in .Net. On larger projects that time saved can add up to a lot of money.

Depend with your purpose and your ability to learn both of programming. Based on my experience in few years, Java is the best programming language than other. Its simple, easy to learn, applicable, and multifunction.

Java has significant advantages over other languages and environments that make it suitable for just about any programming task. It is easy to learn, was designed to be easy to use and is therefore easy to write, compile, debug, and learn than other programming languages. It is also object-oriented. This allows you to create modular programs and reusable code. And most of all, Java is platform-independent.

Why does Mary Smith and Linda Brown have links to the same site with different names? Spam?

Anyway, I'm a C# developer myself. I start out learning Visual Basic back in the 90's, what a mistake. That set my learning curve back a few years. Once I learned about C and C++ my mind was intrigued. I sat day in and day out learning the mass inter workings of c++. Then I discovered C#. WOW was all I could say to myself. With C# I could write entire functions with MUCH MUCH less code and with equal performance. So there it was, my calling, C#.

It's really a personal choice in some ways. In other ways, Microsoft is tying our hands at using .Net

I think you should learn java until you need to start programming GUI, in which case you want to dump it and go with C++. Java is one of the worst languages ever created for GUI development. It just sux, It's hard to do anything like add line numbers for a textbox, or make it so the delete key deletes and the backspace key backspaces. If anyone disagrees then go emulate the Windows calculator in Java, every aspect of it. Make it so it switches to scientific mode when you click the button. Then go do the same in QT.

    Java = 3 weeks work.
C++ with QT library = 6 hours work.

I suggest nobody do .NET because it's restricted to windows and there's no need to restrict yourself when you could use something like C++ QT. Which is a library extension just like .NET (Microsoft) but QT is written by Nokia and it's free for commercial use and it works on every platform out of the box including most mobile phones.

You could also get into python which is a scripting language built on C++.
But if my opinion is worth anything, stay away from 1 operating system class libraries like .NET. More and more hipsters are buying MAC's unfortunately so we need to cater for the hipsters.

    CATER FOR THE HIPSTERS!

edit: actually java just sux, start with C++ standard library instead. Then move on to QT libraries when you know the basics of C++
