Hi, I'm Lyndon. relatively new to Internet marketing. I think I made like the biggest error in the world. I accidentally deleted my database for my main site which is a word press theme I'm using called One Theme. I logged into the server and added the database gain but when i tried to access the site I got the WP install /wp-admin/install.php The files are still on the site, what i deleted was the database so I thought when I replaced the database again with the same info in the wp-config.php that It would be rectified. Alas it wasn't I would greatly appreciate any assistance anyone can give me or advice as I'm completely stumped as to what my next move should be. Thanks warmest regards Lyndon |

OUCH. Sounds like you need to talk to your host and get your server turned back a couple days to before you deleted the database. They should do it absolutely free for you. Most will. Just ask about getting the server restored. |

Hi Scheda, Thanks for the response. Can I ask another question? What will happen to the sites I made changes to like this morning? Will I have to do them over? I mean redo all the changes I made today when the server is turned back? Thanks |

Some hosts let you make changes to specific domains. I use Dreamhost, and they allow that. If they don't allow that... then yes, you'll have to do that again. |

Thanks a lot. I will contact the host and see if I can have this done on just one domain. I use Cirtex. Thanks again. You have been most helpful. Warmest Regards |

Hi Johnny, Thanks a lot. i finally got a reply from my host just now. This is what they said: Hi, We have check with your main domain "Netsuccessprofits.com" and the database was empty. Could you please import the database or else upload the database under "/home/breascom/public_html" So that we will restore for you then with out problem your site will work. mysql> use breascom_wrdp3; Database changed mysql> show tables; Empty set (0.02 sec) They might as well have spoken greek to me. Dont know what they really want me to do. How do i find the database. the files are on the server. but how do i get access to the database if I accidentally deleted it. I think they didn't get what i said to them or maybe i'm not understanding. |

Hi all. I got it back. They gave me an older backup. And i have to do some work to bring the site back to the way it was before with the updates I had previously. But at least its back. That I am very thankful for. Thanks for the help in figuring out which route to take. Warm Regards Lyndon |

Hi, you might also want to get in the habit of keeping a local backup as well. I had a client who also deleted his database and his host no longer had any backups. Your host can help you set up a "cron" job as well that will help you regularly backup your databases more regularly than what the host will do by default.
