Disk Space usage in cpanel

Hi all,

First of all, most of this is like a foreign language to me.

In my Cpanel, I have exceeded my disk usage quota.

On investigation, in public_html, and wp_content, it seems that
I have a ton of disk space being taken up in " backupwordpress-aa880f786f-backups" whatever that means.

I guess my question is, are these files safe to delete or not?

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

Adam

It looks like you might be using the BackUpWordPress plugin. Here is a tutorial I found on YouTube that shows you how to manage your backups.

You might want to set it to store less backups on the server.

I would suggest downloading any files you are going to delete to your computer first in case your site stops working. After you delete them you should check to make sure everything is working correctly on your site.

If something does stop working, simply re-upload the files back to where the originally were.

If you are unsure, download those files to your local computer and then delete them on the server. I am not familiar with that plugin, but leaving backup files in your public_html could pose a security issue if they are not protected from download.

In general, you want to keep you production operations as free of clutter as possible. You may want to consider any number of the offsite WP backup services. Backups will not do you much good in public_html if your host is down.
