Building An Social Website

Hi All,

I need some advice from you folks,

I've been running a wordpress fashion blog for some time and have built up some decent traffic. Now I want to transform the blog into a social/community website like houzz.com or Chictopia.com.

So it includes things like:
- Signing up visitors
- Option for members to upload images
- A forum like: chictopia.com/community/chictopians
- A business directory like: houzz.com/professionals/c/London-Metro
- An affiliate store/market place

It's very challenging for me because I am not a great coder, I know the basics, but not enough to build such interactive social site.

So what should I do?

Keep learning how to code and eventually build it myself or outsource the project?

The next thing about outsourcing is that you need to work with a company/freelancer in which I can trust and that can understand what I want. How should I validate this company/freelancer and anyone has recommendations/referrals?

    Hi,
I would maybe start by looking to see if there are any open source software packages available. By the sounds of it, phpbb, an online forum software sounds like it might do what you want, then you can also buy mods too to do more specific requests.
Try googling free php forums and see if any others fit your needs.
    Good luck with it,
    Newbim.
