Gmail Desktop App Notification?

Hi,

Is there an App or Third Party App that I can use to watch for Gmail Desktop Notification? I'm not referring to the Chrome Desktop Notification which requires me to have a Chrome browser Open all the time. I am looking for the kind where it exists as an icon on the task-bar. Google Talk for Windows has been disabled so I am looking for an alternative.

      This app looks like a Chrome Extension. Do I need to keep a Chrome browser open for this to work? I mentioned that I am looking for one that can be used as a Windows Task-bar icon.

    Nice thread to discuss about. I am also looking for the same, but yet i did not find anything which can solve this problem. I have to keep chrome open all the time for google hangout.
