Rank tracking in Google UK
I'm looking into making a tool my offline consulting clients can use on my site to track their position in Google UK as well as other SE's a bit like this one here:

I don't have a Google SOAP API and as far as I've read the AJAX search API won't be much help either.
Can anyone give me any pointers on where to start with something like this so I can either do it myself of outsource? Ideally I want something that just tells the client where they are in Google UK for their search term that doesn't break any terms of use with the SE's and doesn't involve using something like cURL to get the results from another site like the one above.
