Anyone using Commission Junction web services (and actually getting it working properly)?

I have been using the CJ API on and off for a few years now, just to try to pull products via REST. Is it me, or is it total CRAP, and light-years behind the eBay and Amazon product APIs?!

The CJ API has a completely dumb (straight d/base LIKE %%, evidently) keyword search that is really hard to extract decent results from, as compared to eBay's and Amazon's that are pretty smart and give spot-on results every time. It's a real pain to get consistent results from CJ, especially when searching across multiple advertisers (different SKUs, patchy UPCs, different product titles making keyword search even harder).

To cap that it has been constantly throwing up random timeouts in recent days/weeks - anyone getting that, seemingly in response to particular search queries?

Their support is hopeless, documentation is non-existent, there is no community to speak of, there seem to be no plans to bring the web service into the second decade of the 21st century - in a word I don't know why they bother.

Just wanted a gripe - I am definitely on the look-out for another decent network with a good spread of advertisers, with a half-decent web service. I really want to do some product comparison stuff with eBay and Amazon in the mix, but nothing really measures up. Anyone used Linkshare API? ShareASale? (that one gives way too few calls allowance - like only a few hundred a month)?
