    If you are newbie for for e-commerce and don't like very much of customization then I highly recommend going with WordPress.

    But if you are coding nerd and like to modify deeply things then you could go with HTML. Probably you will need also to learn PHP if you are after modification of your website or a blog.

    The easiest option if you want to build an ecommerce website is Wordpress. Wordpress has huge collection of ecommerce themes and plugins that you can use and activate in your website which enables you to easily configure your website and add your products.

    On the other hand, if you want a customize ecommerce site solution when you define your own function and style then you can do from scratch using html, php, database either mysql or postgresql. Or you could use frameworks like Code igniter.

    Another option would be to use free shopping carts like Zencart, OsCommerce and Cubecart.
