404 errors

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this questions, but here goes.

I am getting a 404 error when I try to log into the wp-admin in wordpress.
This just started recently. But not all the time, and not with all my sites.

And at times, I could "backdoor" into it by going to my posts and "edit", and
get to the dashboard that way.

But one of my sites is totally Blocked. Can't get in. Is there anything in cpanel that I can check? (yes, I can get in it)

    The 404 is a not found page. Did you type the correct URL?

    Maybe you deleted the admin page by mistake. You could export the database and import it in a new WP installation.

      Thanks for the quick response Luckies!

      Actually our servers went down over the weekend, and one of my husbands site did the same, and they had to fix it.

      The url is correct. It even gave me the login page, but then the 404 page not found.

      Actually I haven't been in this particular website in about 2 weeks, and at that time, it was fine.

      I am at a loss right now. In order to export the database, don't I have to get to my dashboard tho? Or can I do it in Cpanel?

    Do all of the sites work correctly not counting the admin section?
    I notice that when I go to most of your sites that the www gets removed. This may have something to do with what is happening.
    Check your .htaccess file or have someone do it for you to see if there is anything redirecting incorrectly

    That site is removing the www also.
    Usually you want this the other way around. If no www then add it through the .htaccess

    Do you show the correct URL in your browser when you get the 404?

    Re-upload Wordpress files again manually over FTP and try again. Which page exactly does produce the 404 error?

    It doesn't matter if WWW is removed. Some have them with www. some without.

    Posting .htaccess here would also help.

    I can click on my site, but when I go into the site admin I get the error - the link is show the url with /wp-admin.
    I type in the whole address Log In and I get my login screen, when I put my username/password I get the error - url is again Log In
    When I get my "moderate" post, and click the link, same thing. It's like it disappeared.
    Just remembered this...On August 15, I got a "google alert" that had this on it. I double checked my site at that time and it was fine. (It threw up a red flag for me)

    Did you re-upload ALL the WP files?

    So, when you go to /wp-login.php page, you enter your login information and then it shows 404 error page? Did I understand you correctly?

    Can you create a temporary user or send me login info over PM so that I can try and see. Hard to tell what's wrong without any access.. All we can do is guess..
