I Want to Write Android Apps. Where Do I Start?

hi,
I have some background in coding (PHP, Visual Basic...), but I've never touched Android development before.

I'd like to get started, but I'm not entirely sure what I need.
I could use some guidance on where to start with Android. Can you help?

As you're probably aware, writing apps for Android is more than just learning code syntax. If you've never learned to code, you can check out plenty of resources here.

If you have vb experience in visual studio I would use zamrin. I develop in c# so the learning curve wasn't too bad for me. This will also allow you to create iPhone apps too. They say 80% of code can be shared but the few apps I wrote it was more like 70%.
If your good with Javascript then titanium studio might be a good fit.

If you plan on doing games I would go with unity.

Just know app and game development is quite a bit different from Web Development and you will have a learning curve.

I learned iOS programming and created a half-decent app very quickly by buying a $10 course on Udemy. I'm sure you could do the same thing with Android.

If you are working on PHP, VB or any other language then there are not much tasks for you. As the coding style, syntax will be different but the coscept would be the same which you have learned in OOPS, DATA structure etc.

If you know Javascript, you can develop native cross platform apps (develop once, deploy everywhere) using NativeScript/ReactNative
