Quick Download for 80 Meg File

Hey Guys,

I have a "bonus" file that's about 80 megs that subscribers will be able to download.

I have thought about putting it on Amazon A3 but although I have a storage and cloud account I have not used them. It appears that the learning curve may be a little steep.

A conventional download from my web server is going to be a time consuming process so I would like to find a way for a faster download.

Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

The learning curve for Amazon is not that steep but you need the right tool.

Get the S3fox plugin for firefox and google for some video tutorials on how to configure it all.

CNAME is optional... which you'll understand when you read Paul's article.

Thanks Spencer, I take it that you are saying that Amazon is probably the best solution for a faster download. Any other options?

      Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

The present file is zipped and is loaded into an Amazon S3 bucket. It consists of content, videos, and programs. I originally wanted my subscribers to be able to download the entire file at once but I am now considering the option of the entire file download or each of the 6 components to be downloaded individually.

Will the Download Accelerator handle the video and program files as well as the content?

Download accelerator can sometimes break. It also can try to download using gzip protocol which a normal webserver can handle but S3 can't without a lot of fiddling about.

There are alternatives to S3 - a simple search for Cloud Storage Networks will find some for you.
